Where have all the hippies gone?

Hippies are pretty much the most AMAZING people to ever walk this planet. I mean, with all this war, hatred, killing and violence, and with all this pollution to the enviornmnet, it's nice to know there are people out there who still RESPECT the earth, and people who are against the war, and stand for PEACE and LOVE. *Sigh* We need more hippies around here, because frankly, I don't know what this world is coming to, but it's NOT good. STOP the hatred, war and violence, and spread the PEACE AND LOVE. And please, respect mother earth. We need more tree-huggers

We need more understanding, we need tolerance, we need co-existence. We need love, we need communion, we need brotherhood.

We need people to remove their shoes and feel the earth's heartbeat beneath their feet.
Let's be thankful for those that do.

 

we need more respect and openness for everyone and everything. i feel that everyone have a lot of prejudices about races, nature, and all those things on earth... however, we are humans and we are not perfect (fortunately...).

 

in full agreeance. let'e create these things in our own lives...then we can be certain that they DO have a place in our world!

i agree with raiyne. no more war. peace and love.

 

no offense to anyone. but the reason there aren't anymore or any new hippies is because no one has the guts. If citizens of this country really hate the war and the problems we have to face why don't you do something about it? Besides if we really want peace and love first we need a revolution.

I just thought I'd write this here:

today i was in art class and there was a young girl there, and she was saying how at school they were learning about the 60s and how it "sucked"
and i asked why it sucked, because i LOVED the 60s!!!
and ignored my question, and went on to say how they had to stand up in class, and do a presentation, and most people just made their fingers into a peace sign, and it was embarrassing, and it sucked

when i was exactly her age, or...no a year younger, we had to learn about the 60s, and those few days changed my life. It made me realise what I really truly was into, music wise, and my views, and fashion etc lol. and i guess after those few days, i just really wanted to be a hippie!

its funny how different people, same age, just interpret things differently. Well I thought it was interesting anyway

but i really doubt that she will be a hippie hahaha

Where I live, there is no shortage of hippies. The whole coast of the Pacific NW is home to many of the originals

I was downtown the other day, it looked like an aging hippy convention or something.

Long, grey hair everywhere.

We even have a guy who sell bongs and pipes on the roadside. I like watching the elderly tourist's faces when they stop to admire those funny looking "flower vases" he sells.

Hippies today have no driving force like the originals did. But if they bring back the draft, that'll change pretty quick.

That sounds cool, nice to know they are still together in some places, apart from the geographically fragmented community that exists here on the forums.

Totally agree with you guys. Recently met a kid he is ten years old and smokes.

He started calling me hippie (i was flattered) cause i said i don't believe in violence and he said "peace,love and understanding sucks". Then he leaved.
So i was very disapointed that someone ruins he's life at that age.

I just wanted to talk someone about this.
I'm so frustrated.

Hey everyone, i agree with the whole new revolution. Me and my fellow hippies are planning a great trip next summer. Im taking my friends in my VW Bus and telling people to spread the message of peace & love. While planning where the next woodstock gathering should be.

hippies are EVERYWHERE! they just don't seem to have as big a voixce as they did in the 60's.we need to speak up more!

Ok, first off.

we do not need more tolerance, tolerance is just tolerating something, that doesn't mean you have to like it. I tolerate a dog barking at me, or someone acting downright stupid.

What we, the world needs, is acceptance and understanding, the sooner that occurs, the sooner the world will actually know peace.

spreading the message of peace and love is a silly thing to do, because really, who's going to listen? nobody, but, if we can get people to understand that people are people, people deserve their rights, people deserve to not have wars waged against them, then peace and love will already be there.


don't go spreading peace and love, spread acceptance and understanding, besides, if you say peace and love, you get labeled a hippy, and half the people you talk to won't listen because they'll think you're stoned out of your mind.

and for those of you who are frustrated, what's there to be frustrated about? labels? if you are frustrated about a label, go out and fix it, go out and change it. don't just sit at home, type on your computer and be frustrated, go out and be productive, don't just complain, fix it.

and about going out and starting a revolution, what do you plan to change everything to? living off the land, that worked well........ you want to overthrow the government? and then do what, ask someone else to be in charge and start the whole corruption thing over? no, please, don't talk about starting a revolution that just makes you sound even crazier and makes people listen to you less.

just go out, as a human being, and show to the world, preach the message, that we all can get along, we can all accept each other. and the world will be fine.

woodstock cannot, and probably should not happen again, there would just be a giant drug raid by the police, and alot of people in jail.

by the way, saying that you hate bush, is just being unloving, and hateful and not what people should be about.
