when you have children, will you let them smoke weed?

i don't know. i don't know if i'd want to, but i don't want to be a hypocrite and tell them no.

i accidentally (oh, fuck spelling! i'm DRUNK!) that on, coincidentantly, my drinking thread... in which i said i don't drink that much.... despite the fact that i've been drunk every night for the past week or so... but... okay, back on topic. my boyfriend and i have discussed... they'll be raised around weed, and probably other drugs, and they'll just sort of accept it. If they twelve year old does the "hey, can i have a sip of your drink" sort of thing, except with weed, i think i'd deny them. y'know the "this is for *grown ups*" or "that's inappropriate". and if they did it... whatever. don't get in trouble, i don't have you covered if you get in trouble.

 

I don't think I'm going to have kids, but if I do, I will not introduce drugs or alcohol to them. Once they discover drugs and alcohol themselves, we'll talk. I'm still iffy on how I feel about drugs, personally.

I'd let them after a certain age. Even if I didn't, it's not like they wouldn't smoke pot. Kids don't work like that, as evidenced by this forum.

I will not smoke with my kids before they are 16, unless I find out they are smoking before then; in which case, I'd get them high. They are never gonna be told that smoking marijuana is wrong, but I also won't push it on them.

 

This is a tough one. I chose "I will let them discover it for themselves". I don't plan on smoking around my kid openly until they're over 18. I want to avoid that whole thing where the kid gets mad at you and threatens to tell the cops you smoke pot, ya know? I saw this growing up and it wasn't pretty. My brother could be holding a weapon and threatening to kill us all, but we weren't allowed to call the cops because dad would be busted.

If I catch my kid smoking when they're under 18 I'll tell them to stop and that if I catch them smoking again I'll......make up some silly consequence that's fitting in that day and age. Chances are they'll still smoke, but if they're good enough not to let me catch them, and if it isn't effecting their school work, social life, etc in a negative fashion, then I'll let it go. I'm not going to search their room for pot or pipes or anything like that.
If they're over 18 and being responsible about then awesome, I did something right. And if dear old mom isn't too dorky for them maybe we'll even smoke together.

 

depends. i would never introduce them to it because 50% of the time, potheads stack up to the minuses of smoking, they become lazy unmotivated, stupid peace 2 da world idiots. if my kid was smoking, i would try to find out which it was as in smoking for knowledge and relaxation or getting wasted then tokin, passing out and waking up without pants with eye brows shaved and shit like that. if he kept hes grades THE SAME or better while smoking, id make exceptions, but id tell him there will be a time he will have to realise you dont need weed to enjoy and be happy. id tell him about my old days and to be careful.

personally i hope if he smokes its just for a few years, id hate to raise a kid for him to turn out living in some shit appartment, working in subway and smoking reefer all day. if he smokes like i did, once in a while without it intefering with his life like it did with mine, fine. if he was smoking for longer than a few months, id tell him and show him how to grow it, id hate for my kid to spend all his money on pot.

but thats just what i think atm, im sure my oppinions will change and develop in time, but atm i dont think i even want kids

No not at all. If I give them the ok then they'll fuckin be high all the time.

 

There's going to be a lot of things that your children will do that you won't approve of, yet you did as a teenage. I don't care if I'm being hypocritical, my kids are not going to smoke until they are atleast 16-17. Yeah, I handled smoking at a younger age just fine, but I have no idea how they will handle it. I guess it kind of depends on your kid and if they are responsible or if they are already fucking up their lives at 13.

 

I'm not going to encourage them, or blatantly use it in front of them, or any other actions which may influence their decision to smoke weed.

If they find it, and choose to use it- yeah, I'm not going to have a problem with it. I'd rather have them smoking pot safely at home, as opposed to using half of that other "hard shit" out there.

I'm also going to encourage healthy use, via vape or cooking if they choose to use weed, and I'm not going to have a problem with them growing- I'd rather have a fucking plant in my house than have them wasting money on weed which they could save for better things.

 

but what if they have a health problem, that cripples their smoking abilities, such as me? i need to have surgery before i can hit the pipe again.

 

i wouldnt nessicarily let my kids smoke pot. if i ever caught them or smelled some things commingout of their room or theyre looking kinda stoned, ill probably talk to them about some stuff like, well, when i was your age i made some pretty bad descisions... and tell them not to make the same mistakes i have, and set some sort of guidelines, you cant fail any classes in school, have to be home at a certain hour, no exsessive amounts of partying or people at the house. but then again, teenagers will be teenagers and they will do shit behind my back, but who knows, i may never have kids. i may be completely sterile from smoking to much pot.

 

Well, i would let them as long as they where still doing well in school, or it wasn't messing up their life at all. But i would definately sit down, and smoke a bowl with one of my kids. (If i had one.)

 

so those who would smoke with their kids, will it be like an everyday thing, or, for instance, instead of playing board games on family nights like the neighbors you all sit in a circle and pass the bong?

 

Interesting set of respondants. Most of y'all shouldn't be even thinking of having kids for several more years. Anyhoo, when my one year old reaches menarche, she'll be old enough to have a stash during her period. Maybe a few years after that, (15ish?) if she hasn't already started skimming off Daddy's bag, she can have recreational pot.

 

Only if they smoke me up.
