Ok so my roots have ton of hair under the actual dread but im seeing no knots forming an it has about 1 to 2 inches of regular hair growing out of it what should i do.

Should i just leave it i dont wanna walk around with 5 inches of unlocked at my roots. lol

it should dread up within a few months, if not eventualy it will. don't think about it too much and the time will fly by. i advise not messing with it and letting it do it's own thing on it's own. i'm at 4 months (i think) and my roots are doing pretty good now.

Great pictures. How long was your hair when you started out?

I feel the same way. I started mine out backcombed at the "minimum" length, and some of it it just regular hair at the roots, and then the back part is somewhat matted and I have to separate it.

I think you just have to go with it. I rubbed my roots everyday and I still have at least an inch of straight growth.

some hair just magically dreads its roots by itself with hardly anything. some takes a good couple of inches before it really starts dreading itself. some, like mine, just doesn't want to. so i rub my roots every week after i wash (although i'm gonna start washing twice a week i think, at least for a little... my scalp's doing wierd things), and that keeps them nice and tight locked up.
