When i increase the brightness on one lamp when I get to a certain point it makes the other one come on and increase in brightness then goes out, when I turn the knob back down, at the same point it makes the other one cut on again then decrease and go out again.

    Weird man!

Sounds like you need the Clapper! :)

the clapper? isn't that weird how one lamp can control another lamp like that? Those lamp dimmers must cause terrible interference.

Are the lamps somehow linked or separate normal lamps. I'd say if they are separate then it must be something about the power running to the room.

The Old School Of Dimmers Were Very Sensitive To

Even The Slighest Changes In Supply, So If They Are Old And Both On The Same

Circuit This Would Be Quite Possible...:)

They're seperate lamps, plugged into different outlets in the same room. The knob on one of them controls the other one when you hit a certain point in the brightness.

So they must be wired together somehow?

They're probably on the same branch circuit from the panel

Considering the heat in your place is so fucked up...I wouldn't be surprised if the wiring is old and outdated too.

You would think so, but the panel looks pretty new even though they did manage to install it upside down

The heat though, it serves its purpose once you learn the intracacies of its operation

I've always noticed that "touch lamps" will sometimes come on for no reason so maybe its a similar phenonenon

Also, they are IKEA lamps...that is probably why. The bigger one the dimmer circuit went out so I had hack in a dimmer circuit from another dimmer cuz I liked the way the lamp looked aesthetically.
