    ..I almost panic.

I thought I had gotten over this shit but when I really get into after-life thoughts, the possibility of that shit scares me like nothing else.

that seems to be a really irrational fear with no legitimate basis

I find an element of comfort knowing that after I die I will rot in the ground.

Have you not seen "The Lion King"?

I do not care about dying. I will be too busy looking good, I wont know it hit me.

Thoughts like that keep me warm at night.:)

When I think of the possibility of no afterlife I panic too, but I believe in an afterlife so even if it's not true, it saves me from the fear.

Well then perhaps you should stop thinking about it and live instead:)

I believe death is not the end but a beginning. Energy cannot be created or destroyed and we are all just energy

no but when you think of all the other things in life you can only barely understand, and the vast majority of things which in reality you dont understand at all (like all of us) then perhaps you can at least doubt the certainty of something we have no evidence for or against - that there is nothing beyond the moment of the body's death.

life after death is a leap of faith, but so is pure void

Yay for Toolmaggot. That movie rocks.

I find the upcoming lack of afterlife freeing. It means I only have this one life, the life I know, to worry about, and I can focus all my energy on having as great a life as possible without stressing about what might come next.

Death doesn't frighten me in the slightest.

I don't know what happens when you croak, nor do I profess or want to know, nor am I going to ponder it. I'll find out when I'm dead. And until I'm dead, I'm not going to worry about it, I have entirely too much life to be living to bother myself with such trivialities.

Being dead doesnt bother me, it's the actualy dying process that I hope goes smoothly.

pfft.. call yourself a man. *tuts*

Actually I have no issues 'convincing' myself since it makes sense to me. No afterlife doesn't.

    same here, man:cheers2:

to be honest, if i live to be old enough and i'm ready enough and in a good place for it, i would like to have a small going away party with my closest loved ones, a pre-funeral funeral if you will, but happier than that. and i'd like to go by my own means, comforted by those i love.

i guess some people think the idea is creepy, but i think its lovely. i can't think of a better way to die.

imo this is correct. everything else in the world simply changes form or moves into a different kind of existance, so why not the soul? it seems silly to me that the soul would be the only thing we know of which can just dissappear and vanish without a trace
