I'm homeschooled and self-taught, taking long distance learning courses... I worked with a guitar tech and established a business and have become schizotypical and depressed in my fifteen years of existance. I could wind a Abigail Ybarra '54 Strat Custom Shop quality set of single coil pickups with my teeth, in the dark, and my hands tied around my back. It's not that great of a life, but it's okay. I can stand it. It's surely a hell of a lot better than if I was Ethiopian or something. My mom always buys expensive shit and my dad can be a drunk, often. I care for nothing but my guitars and I stay in my room all day...I've often left the house spending the day with a few local homeless people, but I find myself coming back. If I had it my way, I would walk out the door with a duffel bag and a Martin D-45 tomorrow, if I could. I've been pretty damn close to it. I guess I'm just the Capricorn that I am.
Main rig as in guitar rig? Guitar isn't my main instrument, but most of what I have (gtr, organ, synths, percussion, mics, etc.) goes through my effects rig at one time or another through a Walter Woods bass preamp or direct into my Roland keyboard amp; the routing will vary depending on my whims and the desired result. The gear: Boss compressor (CS-3?), Frostwave Resonator (Korg MS20 HP/LP filter clone), Moogerfooger Ring Modulator, Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man, Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Electric Mistress, Boss noise gate, MXR Phase 100, Alesis Quadraverb, Line 6 Echo Pro, Synthesis Technology MOTM synth modules (5-in/1-out mixer, dual LFO, suboctave multiplexer, envelope generator), Blacet synth modules (balanced ring modulator, 4-stage OTA phaser, frequency divider), Morley volume pedal w/channel switcher.
Well... everything you want to list... lol. Wow, a little overkill for my tastes. I usually only run the tubescreamer... once in a while some flange or tremolo, but I like to keep it simple. Though, a phase+delay is nice...
I generally plug a 68 Gibson ES 335 straight into a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe tube amp.....it seems to get a good tone without having to add any effects.
Heh, I blew the speaker out in a deluxe up once when I went to this party. The band was like "you play" so I started noodling around while they were on intermission... I had my les paul and deluxe in our car, so I brought it and plugged it in... They were kinda this southern rock/blues band and we were in the middle of some hickass area in the woods and my mom's friend rented out a hunt club for a party... I think they were doing lynyrd skynyrd and then we started pride and joy by stevie ray vaughan and something happened and I started shredding and pushing the limits a bit and had it cranked... hahha, I went home and then I heard later that night, the cops busted them and they were all drunk on jello shooters.
ha, I generally play at around 3 or 3.5 on mine with my band....right now one of the tubes is almost completely dead so I have been turning it up a little higher. Sucks, I've got a show on thursday night and i don't think I have time to order new ones and get them in...
Yeah, the HR deluxe has two 6L6 output tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes... I've never really changed from using groove tubes because they're colored and don't have to be biased... The ones on my cyber-twin are annoying. I've never bothered with buying an upgrade kit thing for it and I get tube rattle sometimes, but it's never been a very big deal unless I'm above five on the master. I often turn the master to ten and keep the volume at two or so.
I wish I could say it was an ES-335, but alas I can't afford one. I don't play Electric hardly at all anymore, but when I get over to play with some old buddies, this is what I use.....

When doing electric stuff, I use an 88 clapton signature strat running straight into my computer, which has so many programs and effects processors it’s not funny, but I typically use NI GuitarRig as my foundation. I do have a matchbox, a marshall stack, a tubescreamer 808 and other random pedals, but never touch em anymore… I’m only doing studio stuff for now, and my comp blows the hardware out of the water, imo. If I start doing live stuff, I’ll buy a laptop and run through that, lol. When doing acoustic, well the guitar varies (line-out verses mic’d and style of song) unless I’m using the 12 string (no line out), which is a Yamaha, and fuck if I know the model number, or even it’s year. I want to check out one of these, though; it’s gotten some pretty good reviews… wish one of the local guitar shops would ship some in already! http://www.line6.com/VariaxAcoustic/
Yeah, a lot of the people swear by tubes and vintage shit. But unless you have a good $500,000 laying on your coffee table, who in the hell is going to afford a Matchless, Dumbles, Marshall Plexis, Victoria amps, '59 Bassman amps and '59 les pauls, '57 strats and 40s Martins... That's why I own a Cyber-Twin. I've been thinking about Line6 Variax guitars... the bass that came out is pretty cool too. I have a dealer here who stocks Line6 gear that I always buy from, he usually knocks the normal price off a hundred or or two more that usual off anything over a thousand since I've done deals with him like... six or seven times... Always go to the same mom and pop store, I believe. I love the older clapton strats with the Lace pickups and active electronics/midboost as opposed to the new Clapton strats with the noiseless samarium/cobalt pickups... The old lace PU strats have a greater mids section and seem to pack more of a punch than the new ones. The old ones get a nice les paul-like tone.
Yeah, well... If I didn't use it, I wouldn't have it. Among my primary musical areas of interest is ambient music, drones and soundscapes. I'm not particularly interested in "keeping it simple" in the sense of the timbres I use, I'm looking for a wide palette of sounds; besides, the harmonic and melodic structure are usually pretty simple (as the term "ambient" suggests)... Guitar through phase & delay is nice; if I'm glissing with the butter knife I like to add a bit of compression as well!
P-Bass tuned down two tone-steps, but I'm looking for a good Rickenbacker copy.->EH Bassballs(envelope filter)->Schaller Fuzz->J&J Phaser->Tube 70's Fender Bassman At rehearsals I just use a Behringer Bass V-Amp and a Fender Solidstate bass combo.
