I love halloween, I'm quite into that... it's fun to get all spooked up I've a friend who's Jewish and invites me sometimes to celebrate Hannukah, that's a lot of fun too!
i always loved the 4th of july, because it was the only holiday when you don't have to buy anyone anything, you don't do anything but drink beer and eat hotdogs, and there's a great pyrotechnics display everywhere you look.
Wow, when I sit and think about it, it's really had to pick just one favorite! I love them all! But I think that Christmas would be my first pick, mainly because of the memories it stirs from when I was a child at the holidays, and the new memories that I am making with my own family.
christmas because i like going to the mall and watching the desperate parents fight over action figures and trainsets in Toys R Us. its brutal
new year i just love the feelings of disappoitment and depression as i reflect back on the year that has past and thus making negative predictions for the year to come. ya its some odd and comforting feeling of snowyness, the end of the holidays and the coming of a long and cold winter that combine to make for something special. and i have a new years tradition of listening to u2's new years day song those lyrics never get old.
Yes, the toy stores are a battle field that time of year. It's horrible. I wish I could do my shopping earlier, but we can't because we wouldn't be able to wait until Christmas to give the things we got to the kids. Me especially, I get too excited. So we wait until mid December through a week before the actual day, venturing out in the mass chaos and grumbling about what hell it is. Last year, I thought I was doing good and giving my husband a break from battling the crowds and rude people by doing all of the shopping one afternoon by myself while he was at work. But what did I get? A big, pouty look and a whiney "But I wanted to go with you, I wanted to be a part of it too!" Damned if you do, damned if you don't I always say. I offered to take everything back and start from scratch with him, but he said not to. I felt bad though, I hadn't realized that it was all that important to him to do the Christmas shopping with me for the kids. Guess I learned my lesson. I remember the one year when I was hell bent on getting my oldest son a Fisher Price Intelli-Table. It was all the rage and you couldn't find them ANYWHERE in town. All of the online toy stores were sold out as well. E-Bay had some up for auction, but they took a normally $50.00 toy and hiked the price up into the mid $100's and actually had desperate parents buy them. Not me, not for that amount, that was far too much, considering the retail value was only $49.99, and you'd have to pay for shipping and handling on top of it! I was disappointed, and had a hard time picking anything else out for my son because I had had my heart set on getting him this wonderous hot new toy that I thought looked awesome and that I thought he'd adore. But then one evening, a few days before Christmas, I get this phone call from my dad. He's practically breathless with excitement telling me that he had found one, and asking if I wanted it! Heck yeah I wanted it! So he bought it, and on Christmas Day, my oldest son got his new toy. Except, he was mildly, even less than mildly, interested in it. So much for that. He rarely played with it, after all of that desperate, fruitless hunting I had done and how the grandparents were on a wild goose chase for it, feeling the taste of victory when they found the prized toy. My twins ended up putting it to good use though a few years later, so it wasn't a loss afterall. They adored it.
What are you guys crazy?? Best holiday ever is you know it christmas YAY hahaha LOL presents !!!!! yup
St. Patty's day.. doesnt involve anything... halloween is a close second cause i like going to haunted houses...
Yes, Christmas. Time of high stress, getting gouged for everything from flights to toys, it's the highest time of the year for suicide, depression, alcoholism, etc. I pack my family off to her parents' house and shut off the phone and the TV and sleep til it's over.
I have to admit that I always get depressed right after Christmas. It's like you have all of this build-up for months prior to, and then bam, it's over. Lots of cold weather and little sunshine to look forward to. One of the biggest reasons why I want to move to Florida. I absolutely love it there. Every time I go, I never want to leave. I even had my hubby looking at businesses last week while we were there. I'd love to live there. *sighs* Did I mention yet that I'd love to live there?
Hmm....I'd say I like All Hallows Eve the most but I actually just enjoy the whole month of October. Where I grew up, that was the most beautiful time of year, all the leaves were turning, there was an explosion of orange everywhere,it wasn't too hot or too cold, and there was always a nice breeze going on...
Halloween!! The most (only?) mystical holiday, and has nothing to do with religions which I despise. I also like St Patrick's day, because I love the Irish and Ireland's my favorite country in this small world
i like christmas cause i like seeing everyones lights and all the lights in my downtown area. but i dont like it cause of bad feelings when you cant find people presents. Or when your family is sitting around hovering over their presents and feast, and then you think about the lonely poor families who cant give their children the same thing. thats a downside to christmas but i still love it
