My cat isn't vocal unless you are feeding him but as of late he has been really vocal, meowing for no reason and at nothing..... what's wrong? I know he might be a little lonely..... what can I do to help him?
well patrick meows when im not petting him in the mornign... he doesnt really mew a lot... hes quite.. but when hes lonely he mews... not even if hes hungry... he follows me too
i was going to say that as well. alot of meowing for no seemingly good reason could very well be him calling out for a mate..or maybe even venting his sexual frustration. but good for you for paying attention and being in tune to your baby. maybe a friend would be good for him....infact in europe (i forget which country) it is a law that if you have a cat you must have more than one. a stray recently showed up at our home and ive been taking care of her (although i cant get her to come inside...she's a scardy cat) and she and my cat are totally in love. ive never seen him like this before. he's hardly ever home anymore......he prefers to hang with her on the porch than be inside with me. mommy is feeling a little ignored
Otis my male cat used to meow all the time until we neuterd him... It got anoying at one point... Now he still meows but only when he wants atention, but he is an atention seeker so it's most of the time hehe... Maybe yours wants atention... If you don't have enough time for your cat, consider getting another one. When I used to work and study I would leave in the morning and come home at night. My cat Tashy used to cry when I would leave in the mornig and when I got home I would hear her crying the minute I stepped out of the car. I felt so bad cause she was still a kitten at the time and I didnt have the free time she needed... Then Otis came along and she stopped the crying... then I felt kind of sad because I felt she didn't need me anymore... haha silly me... anyway... if you don't have another cat, consider getting one if you think you don't spend enough time with him... or see if maybe he wants a treat or just atention. oh and monitor his behavior, make sure he's not sick
He is neutered and isn't sick and I can't afford a little friend...... I play with him and brush him.... I feel like a bad mommy when he cries!
cannot afford the cost of a cat or the care for another cat? because although adoption is the best thing you can pretty much always find kittens and cats in the paper that are "free to a good home".
Go out to and get a laser point. My cats go nuts chasing that little red dot all over the house. Indoor cats can get bored and I think that may be the problem with your cat. Use the cat's prey drive to get him more active.
My three cats were free of charge... all misfit strays hehe... I think your baby is lonely brush him more often sing and talk to him so he knows that you acknowlege him. my cats love when i make up songs for them, they go wild purring and turning upsidedown. try out
You know, you could try being a foster parent for a cat rescue...in some cases, the rescue pays the vetting bills, and you provide food, shelter, and socialization... Think about that! The humane society of huron valley has a foster home program, and TONS of needy cats. - http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/MI175.html also, Animal Rescue connection - http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/MI232.html REALLY needs foster homes.
