If they would tunnel vision on the right things that wouldn't be a problem :p Yes, the 'right things' are most likely subjective :( Damn our individuality!

There is always a 'mainstream', it depends what exactly forms the mainstream that makes it easy to label it wrong or not. I think the mainstream isn't wrong by definition as Tyron seems to put it.

Too exclusive; not adventurous enough. Everything is produced for, and marketed and sold to the 'every man'. It's all dumbed down for mass consumption. With all the personality and specialization removed.

Could not have worded it better myself! Too much indifference, not enough change.

But then again, if I took more action in my life, then I'd be surrounded by more people who share my views in building the 'new society' (for lack of a better term). I mean, heck, there's an organic joint near my place, and the only thing keeping me from hanging out there every day is money and transportation. So this train of thought just made me realize how much of a hypocrite I am. Personal revolution FTW!

What is funny is each and every one of us help comprise the "mainstream".

It is always amusing to see humans divide themselves into camps and begin to hurl insult and derision against those who have amassed into a differing camp, when in reality the grass is most often the same shade of green on both sides of the fence.

This planet is so amusing, I'm gonna miss it when the assignment is over.

Personally, I'm not against being mainstream. I just wish mainstream was different, much like it was in the late 60's. Today's mainstream society is taught how and what to think, rather than being a legitimate expression in line with Divine Self.

Though that's all changing now. The awakening movement is making its way forwards, slowly but surely. "Gonna win, yea, we're taking over! Come on!"

I think the all grass is green statement is very true, but, you just fell victim the dichotomy you were talking about.

While each of us help comprise the mainstream; how we, and how much we, contribute to it is varying, and how much control we have over it is debatable.

In my opinion, with some help from us, the studio heads have built our culture into a run away machine.

Its simple. And what i mean by simple is simply disturbing. Here goes:

The corporations are in bed with the government. (because the gov makes the laws)

The corporations own the media. Because it makes sence (to them) to tell people what they need and what they dont need to buy. and whatever you believe will make you act a certain way. basicly everything you hear on tv is a lie.

The gov needs to distract the people from all the corruption and the invasions and dirty stuff they do so they get the corporations to put more and more addictive tv shows on tv for the masses to marvel at. like hollywood gossip.. (who cares?! seriously!)

The corporations help the gov and in exchange the gov looks the other way when corporations do bad things, ie pollution, push useless products on people, approve drugs that have more side effects than positive effects, allow corporations like monsanto to destroy the soil our plants need to grow and feed us.

Theres more to the story, it goes deeper, but i feel like im ranting so ill stop.

but basicly the gov is in bed with the corporations, corporations own the media, one hand washes the other and all the dirt falls on the american people.

the other side of the spectrum is the same but instead of the corporations, its the banks. (wich, the banks own the corporations.) and the bigger banks tell governments what to do (the world banks) and the economies are all doomed because of a system called the fractional reserve banking system and the ludacris notion that a gov BORROWS money from a bank to grow its economy, at an interest. now where does the money come from to pay the intrest if it doesnt exist? we have to borrow more to pay it off! thats why inflation keeps growing and growing. thats what end the fed is all about. look at the zeitguest movies and youll know everything u need to know.

So whats wrong with mainstream society? The media, the gov, the corporations and the banks. its not their fault completely...

we are the 99% we have the power to change it. especialy with the technology we have today. lets use it!

The main thing that is wrong with society is that the egotistical way of thinking/behaving has taken over the spiritual way of thinking. The ego is focused on greed, money, power, superficiality, consumerism etc. where as the spiritual side of humans that consists of love, peace, unity, connectedness etc. is pushed aside and forgotten. We have let the ego control us.

Everyone alive was/is obviously born into the respective societies in which they live. The people with the most power/money in any given society, get to determine how that society and the individuals that comprise that society, are destined to live their lives. If you're asking about the US society, my take on it is that the discovery that people can be led, fooled, used and made to believe that individual WANTS are more important than collective NEEDS is what's wrong with this one. If you're asking about someplace like Somalia or Pakistan, for example--all I can say about those places-- is that evolution needs to speed up a bit. Well, quite a bit.

maybe the problem is that everyone thinks they know what the problem (and the solution to that problem) is, but none of us see the same problem.
