What's Up With All the Phopes?

What's up with all the homophobes and anti gay recently on this forum. I thought this was suppose to be a safe place for GLBT?

I was looking back on some of the old post's and there seems to be alot of folks who stopped coming to this board. It could be the Fascists who sweep through and over take the forums until everybody with a left leaning opinion just gets disgusted and leaves.

There are a couple who seem to be "created" merely to bash gays on this forum. By created I mean that those people have other names that they post by, also. Either way that would be trolling, in and of it's self. Anyway. Who else thinks this forum should be retitled from the "Gay" forum to the "Gay Bashers" forum, I mean just to give them equal say in things and not forget that this is a free speech forum.

I'd agree with the first part, that there's more at the moment than there was when I start, although that said, shortly after I started a lot of them disappeared for a while, so there's not as many more than there seem to be.

The second part (or more precisely, the second part of the second part) is categorically untrue. There are about three people who cause any kind of trouble at all here, and the idea that this has led to their being less left leaning posters here is just stupid. If anything the place has sometimes seems too leftist, to the point where some posts appear to be completely divorced from reality.

I know it's good to try and be tolerant of other people's lifestyles and so on, but in doing so a lot of us have managed to look rather foolish in being supportive and sympathetic to something which is almost definitely a joke.

I realise this point is slightly undermined by the fact that Eras also offered an apparently serious reaction. But still: is it any wonder the trolls and flame-baiters flock here, when we are such easy meat to them?

 

I wonder how many of these different "trolls and flame-baiters" is really the same one or two people ?

Sorry SelfControl, but your choice of reference for a left wing poster was strange to say the least. Please explain how he is left wing.

The post seems to be from a deeply disturbed young man. You will notice that I did not comment on that particular thread because I did not believe that I could help. I saw how several people went at this person with teeth bared and claws out. Surely, that didn't help him in the least. He might have been crazy, but as much as you wouldn't like to hear it, that doesn't make him leftist.

The trolls who seem to come here are like the phobes who stand at the corner outside the gay bars harrassing eveyone with their antigay leaflets. They have only one desire, to see all LGBT people suffer. A gay forum would seem like a place to do that for them. The idea that GLBT folks can discuss issues openly and freely on the internet would be a grave concern to their wicked minds.

And I agree with you txbarefooter, I have publicly identified one such poster, I have several reasons to support my assumption, or I never would have done it. The fact that he didn't comment on my subtle accusation seems to confirm that I was right.

I think you may have noticed that one of the the gay bashers has been banned from the forums. I would like to thank the moderators for that. While I wouldn't know why they banned him exactly, I agree that antigay should have been banned from this forum. His posts were not only insulting but flame baiting and classic trolling. That's why I reported several of them. You do that by clicking the triangle with the exclamation mark in the lower left corner of every post. When you click it a form appears where you should explain why you believe the post should be considered for violating the rules. After your explanation is sent, the page resets to a blank form, that's the way they have it set up.

I have noticed that a couple of members have resorted to what might be seen as personal attacks toward these scoundrels. That might get you yourself banned. If you think a poster is violating the rules then report them, and explain why you believer they are in violation.

Banning: People who violate these forum guidelines repeatedly are subject to banning. Once someone has been banned from the site, we don't not allow complaints about it. Once banned, we are done with that individual, and no amount of complaining from other members will help. We don't need to justify our bans. This only causes more work for the moderators. Which is usually the reason for the person being banned in the first place. So those who complain about a banishment, are subject to being banned themselves.
