Scarcity of other gays... overabundancy of judgmental self righteous bible-thumpin' baptists.

I don't really think there is anything hard about it, but it does seem that gay-dar doesn't work on me most of the time.

I have a similar problem, in that I think my gaydar does work, but it tends to pick up interference from my libido. Basically if the guy's hot my optimism will completely over-ride my gaydar.

We have the same thing here. Only there's an abundance of Fundimentalists and Conservative people. Luckily I do have an open-minded UCC that I go to in this town.

 The bigotry one encounters in society. People (hetros) who you think are cool uttering homophobic remarks. It never will cease to amaze me how ingrained homophobia can be. Individuals who do not believe themselves to be homophobic are, and they are insulted when you point out homophobic statements or opinions that they express.

I always wonder why who I "fuck" is important to anyone other than the person I am screwing.

The subtle bullshit, the looks, the casual avoidance are the things I hate.

Normally I don't use it but since I was actually laughing out loud... LOL.

That comment just made my day.

The hardest thing for me was always hearing homophobic comments while I was in the closet and feeling powerless to do anything about it.

I haven't heard anything bad since I've been more open about it which is good.

Same here, although I'm still in :uhoh2:. At first it was mostly due to my friend's coming out a month ago, for whom I have a newfound respect. Hearing comments like that daily (about anyone) and not being able to do anything about it was a pain. It wasn't long after that, that they bothered me even more so, when I finally realised that I might also be bisexual (I had always brushed off and ignored any "queer" feelings before and only now came to terms with them). It's great to see a community such as hipforums where everyone is so understanding. :grouphug:

Hardest thing for me is being in the closet, and as a result contradicting my own values.

I stay in the closet, for now, 'cause I don't want to be isolated and victimized at school. Where as I usually don't care about what others have think or say about me.

Also I'm starting to obsess about thinking about my own feelings and emotions a lot more than thinking about others. Where as I prefer to think of others before me.

Not to mention I love to stand up to myself and for others if I feel I have to or I'm offended by a remark. But I rarely react to homophobic remarks or worse, I pretend to agree with them if there is suspicion of me being gay.

And finally, I love to think of the future at the time when I'm out of the closet, openly happy about what I am, which will start to happen after I graduate. But one of my values is to live in the "now" and not live in the past or future or what may happen etc
