Okay so here's the story... I have a pretty messed up back and neck. I'm not a smoker, neither tobacco or weed. After going to the chiropractor they confirmed that my back is damn messed up. After being moved to part time at my job I no longer have medical coverage until they move me back in January. This led to the stoppage of chiropractic visits... I turned to doctors help in the mean-time. She understood my back and neck issue and prescribed me the following... 800 mg Ibuprofen; take 1 tablet 3 times a day if needed for pain. 10 mg Cyclobenzaprine tablet; take 1 tablet 3 times as needed for pain. 5-500 Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen; take 1-2 tablets 3 times needed for pain. After that month I went back because I just wasn't feeling the meds... Don't get me wrong there would be that special occasion that they did work, but that was with me taking 1-1-2 all at once and for some reason after eating greasy food... The doctor felt that was strange that it wasn't working, and I agreed, seeing as how flexerill is one of the leading muscle relaxers to boot. She this time prescribed me a couple different drugs in place of the flexerill and vicos. 5 mg Diazepam; take one tablet 3 times daily as spasms occur. 5-325 oxycod-acetam; take 1 or 2 tablets 3 times daily as needed for pain... Now the first dose I took, man I felt it and I felt it good.... But ever since that first dose, I feel nothing... Not even tired... I'm writing this to see if anyone can help. Naturally I'd go to my doctor, but I'm scared to go and talk to her so fast for the fear she's going to think I'm just trying to get the stronger stuff. So I was hoping to get a good incite from here to either eliminate talking to her or maybe go in with a little more confidence behind myself. Should I up my dosage myself? Any information will help...
To me it sounds like tolerance is the issue. Your meds work until a certain point then you stop feeling the effects. It's a slippery slope as raising the dosages helps at first but will cause more pain in the long run. I'd personally try taking 1 and 1/2 percocet instead of one and see how you feel. But be careful. Lastly, fatty foods potentate opiates if taken 1 hour prior to or after ingestion of opiates. So if you always have a meal with fatty foods before dosing you will feel your medication more.
Have you tried natural healing? Acupuncture has helped millions of people, including some friends of mine. My one friend Tommy, a Rainbow elder, went to a uweepee healing ceremony for a bullet in his back and he has had no pain whatever afterward. Food for thought.
Ah, I guessed so but I googled and it didn't show an exact result That's intruiging because acupuncture is traditionally to be thought of as a mainly chinese invention.
Yes those are two different things. The uweepee healing ceremony involved a sweat lodge and prayers and feeling the healing energy all around us.
Treating the symptoms with drugs is a road to nowhere, but typical. Stay away from MDs until you find a GOOD chiropractor that takes x-rays and can tell you whether you can be helped by his services or not. It may be time for an operation---but you did say insurance kicks back in , in January, so good luck with the wait time. I can attest that back pain is or can get, extremely painful. I broke a disc in my spine and it took a chiro to get me well again even after an operation.
