What's the coolest thing that has happened to you lately?

The coolest thing to happen to me lately is that themnax has pointed out that it is not the religion that matters, but the people who care about it.

 

I bought a house. Finally my own spot, no more landlords and shitty roommates.

 

i sat here trying to think of something cool that has happened to me and i realized nothing has happened...Poor summer this year

 

Hey, boring is never bad. Means no drama, and that is always very cool.

I was driving by a local restaurant called Grinders and their sign said "my boss told me to change the sign, so I did." Then I got food at a different local restaurant, La Rancherita. Cause I wanted avocado tacos and grinders only had Italian food. Also that day, my friend poured baby powder down his plants and it was flying out of his shorts the rest of the day.

 

I got to take a vacation without my kids and relax on the beach in Virginia. It was so nice to have some alone time with my husband and relax and let go of some stress! I also saw 311 in concert again while I was there and thats always fun!

I also recently had a very dear friend pass away and I didnt get the chance to say goodbye because it was very unexpected and I felt a lot of guilt over that. I sat and pleaded with her to show me a sign that she knew I cared and loved her and missed her and I walked in my sons room and found a card she had written to our family(the fact that it was 3 months old and still in perfect condition is a miracle in itself) that I had never seen because it was recieved during a busy party and every one of my questions were answered in her card. It felt so good and I am at peace with the situation now. I still miss my friend but she has been flying around me in butterfly form and I know its her, I can feel it, might sound crazy but I see one everytime I think of her and she and I had a signifigance with butterflies.

 

Lately I wear a butterfly necklace in memory of my own friend who passed away. I think butterflies are a very common association with loved ones who have died.

The farmer who is my landlord took down the mighty pear tree at the edge of the yard which the old neighbours remember as always having been there. Even school classes would stop by and the teacher would point at it and say: This is a pear tree.

It was sad to see it fall but now I realize there's way more light in the yard ... the sun comes through! And I can leave in August if I want ... don't have to pick smashed pears from the road twice a day any more (which I did for many summers) ... this is nice.

 

Recently spent 12 daze camping and playing music at the Appalachian String Band Festival....

 

I think it's gotta be last weekend during the Santana/Allman Brothers concert when the 300 mg of acid hit during the second song of the Allman's set.

 

yeah true, i think of it as extra time to play the guitar or something like that

 

I climbed a mountain....never did I before.....and the best part - it wasn't that hard....OK it would probably be considered a wuzzie mountain - but for this flatlander - I was stroked!

 

I'm making a big move to Oregon...
I have never left the South before but i think i am going to LOVE IT its going to be a very big change but i think there is also opportunity there for me and i can start my nursing.
Also i have been able to get very close to my baby brother he means the world to me


Malia- that is amazing you are a wonderful lady and yea i know what you mean by always keepin the lookout i have lived near water quite a bit and i babysat for years so i am always keeping my open as well
