A lot of people call it "talentless", but in almost every genre of music the lyrics have some sort of rhyme scheme to them... Country, rock, hard rock/metal, etc

    So what's the difference?

  2. I like a lot of it. I think it takes a lot of talent -- at least I know I can't do it.

Maybe it all seems similar because it's unfamiliar to untrained ears. Or maybe it's a racial issue, where people aren't interested in individual personalities. I like to hear what each individual has to say, though.

nothing inherently wrong with it. it's just the music that most youth listen to these days and well, the stupid crap that is promoted gets torn down very easily - just as easily as the stupid pop shit was torn down back in the day

i do think it has made it easier for kids to become dumber on a larger scale though - its the reason why i don't want to live a long life; i'm scared the kids that will be taking care of me will be far too retarded to even clean up my diaper when i'm 35

People call say it takes less talent because they aren't generally using real instruments. (guitar, bass, drums, singer) that's the usual formation of a band.

It's all about the lyrics though. There is some rap that has decent lyrics. The rap that is like" fuck fuck nigga yo, slap my bitch ho." That stuff is bullshit, that's why people laugh at rap.

But there are definitely some rappers that rap about cool shit. The only rapper that doesn't make me turn off the stereo is that immortal technique guy. I don't care if he's some mainstream guy, that's the only shit I can listen to without getting annoyed.

There's the good and the bad as with just about any genre. In my honest opinion there's much more "bad" rap than there is "good," and even the "good" rap I no longer listen to simply because I'd much rather listen to other genres. To each their own really.

Personally I like instruments, especially acoustic based so 99% rap automatically isn't really "up my alley."

It depends on the rap. Some of it is good, but a lot of it is simply crap that has no important message, and, to me, has no redeeming qualities musically. I like rap/hip-hip music with a message that is about more than just hoez and bling.

yea, i suppose that thats usually why people hate rap...
i like it though. but i suppose its different for me (being french) considering i have to really pay attention and listen carefully to get what the lyrics say.. so yea, i'll admit that sometimes i like rap songs just because of the musical performance, and then sometimes i realize what the lyrics say later..

Nothing. I will say that the mainstream rap is useless... its all the same. They all got money, cars, "hoes" and they say it constantly... you can only say something so many times. All the lyrics get old after a while and start sounding the same...

I like Tribe called Quest, biggie, nas, atmosphere... I like artists where they tell stories. Something you actively have to listen to.

I personally don't like rap. It's just not my thing. I'm not big on country either.
