so, does anyone have any other suggestions for a name for Sphinx, our new cat?

we aren't totally sold on that name, but haven't come up with any other ones we like.

we'd like something to fit his personality and look. he's super friendly, and bit mischievous, certainly not evil though.

so if anyone has any suggestions we'll throw it into the hat for consideration. :)

so far the names we have thought of but haven't stuck with are:
    mojo
    gobi
    loki
    jack (short for Cap'n Jack)

but well none really suit him. we think so far out of the lot Sphinx is best, but like I said we're not 100% sold on it.

    so, suggest away. :)

My mum has two cats. I named one Theodore when i was 10. Hes going to be 10 himself in a few weeks. She just calls the other one kitty and clearly favours Theo, shes really mean with it!

Well, after kicking around a few ideas, and reading all these and other suggestions from mates we finally came to a decision.

Someone suggested I read through Egyptian pharaoh names, as the other cats are Cleo and Sheba. The name that stood out to me was Xerxes, but if you remember history (or 300) Xerxes wasn't a nice pharaoh. However, in reading a snipped about Xerxes, the name Leonidas stuck out.

So, we've decided to call him Leonidas or Leon (Leo) for short. I'm going to try to convince Sonny that it's best to call him Leon (which also sounds similar to lion) to avoid confusion with Cleo.

So, all the kitties will be regal. Cleopatra, Queen of Sheba, and Leonidas the king of Sparta. ;)

I was going to suggest Macavity, the Mystery Cat from Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by TS Eliot, which if you havent' read you should, even though it was turned into a musical by AL Webber.

    I think..
    Hmm, names..
Bast (appropriate if you know Egyptian mythology, but more of a lady cat's name)
    Ramses
    Thuthmoses (or Tut for short)

well Leon/leo didn't stick either. that lasted a night.

but, we did settle on Lynx, as it still sounds like Sphinx minus the sphincter reference, and someone on another forum thought he was a lynx point Siamese. After taking him to the vet today (and a whole lot of worry that I can't be bothered to explain -nothing serious) we know for a fact that he's a Snow Marble Bengal. So he's actually rather rare, and the vet even talked to his previous owner (part of story i don't have time to explain), who was very glad he had found a new home.

Cool. I got cats, they're named after some tv characters from the early nineties. Tried to call one Hades but the rents were having none of it.
