I love moderating my meat intake and only buy quality stuff. Seems much better than indulging in it every fucking day or going vegetarian.
People wanting a big portion of meat every day is why we can't have nice things!

I had tri-tip last night. Pretty good stuff. I told the waiter "I ordered the 7 oz." because he brought me this huge piece that I thought must have been a mistake and I didn't want to be charged extra, but he took it back and asked the kitchen. When he came back he assured me that the piece was a 7 oz. Very good, tri-tip.

I've dabbled in it, and it's hard to abstain completely from all meat. Like you, I don't eat that much, but I like having the option, I guess? The struggle for me, is how most of our meat is sourced.(like, the process of it all is unsettling) :confused2:

    Well
Just because a supermarket calls something organic or grass fed doesnt neccessarily equate to humanely raised

Devious supermarkets and their devious marketing practices

I buy organic meat, but it's always nice if it says something about humane practices.

True, organic doesn't always say everything. But i mean there's some meat available in town that doesn't make you feel bad for buying and consuming it, right??

Since we're on the topic.. I'm just trying a veggie burger from "The Meatless Farm Co." for the first time.

My verdict is that it's one of the better ones.

I feel like adding the obvious that non-organic meat doesn't by default means inhumanely raised.

I just got the the pork and stuff. 8 loins, 3 courgettes and the honey and mustard for £7. That's dinner for two nights. About the same price as a burger and fries.

What are your thoughts on Halal meat ? Now that its becoming more widespread with people like Subway and MacDonald going over to it

In the US it most certainly does. Our meat practices are pretty gross and there's no way to guarantee something is humanely raised unless you can visit the farm yourself

But to answer your question, Whole Foods is the only grocery store around where I can guarantee the meat was sourced locally from humane sources. But, i would rather go vegetarian or make the drive to the farms rather than face the traffic on the road in which Whole Foods is located :p

  16. I agree, I'm the same.
I still buy my meat at the ole butcher's at the local farmers' market, and never in supermarkets or whatever stores.

  17. Me too. I've sent and received a few cards.

Yes, like 15 minutes away. I haven't been there in a few months, but every time I go, I'm the only woman without hijab. There are some really fashionable hijabs, I have been tempted to buy one. You will love your experience, as long as the store isn't commercialized. The one that I visit feels like I've walked into an authentic market in the middle east. Just very different from american markets.

  20. Speaking of food and products....know what pisses me off?

Companies selling second-rate, inferior versions of brand-name products to customers in eastern Europe.
Seriously, we've been getting crap, altered inferior formulas. So fuck that.

The EU is *finally* doing something about it though.
