A few people were fired today. It’s not even 8:30 am. I was told they think I’m doing a great job so far...

My heart breaks for one of the guys who got fired because he was working really hard but just didn’t seem like it was a good fit.

Its no fun when that stuff is going on at work. Been there done that. The only thing you can do is keep your head up and do the best you can. And oh, always be on the lookout for a better gig.

 

This morning, my next door neighbor brought me the Amazon package that was left on her doorstep instead of mine.

It's not a big deal, just a bit difficult to breathe sometimes. It'll be fine though.

 

Fifteen years ago today my missing brother's body was discovered in the woods near home. I remember driving 90 mph on the 5 mile trip to my mother's side after she learned the news. I remember it all like it was yesterday. It still sucks.

 

This company hires and if you don’t perform at about the three month mark, they let you go, I’ve observed. It’s a great gig honestly, work from home and great pay but you just have to meet your deadlines and I don’t think he was. Sad because I don’t think he was lazy, just not right for the job. :/

Lots of places have that 90 day "trial period" and sometimes things just don't work out. Meeting deadlines is a key part of any job and missing them is a sure way to get shown the door. In the long run your former co-worker is probably better off if the job was not a good fit. I hope he finds the right fit.

You seem to be enjoying the work from home thing. I'm happy for you. I have done it and have mixed feelings. As far as I am concerned its nice once in a while (gotta love the commute and dress code) but when I had a job where it was the norm I ended up missing the social and professional interaction with my peers.
