lol! That's my mom, pretty much. My dad is middle eastern/Italian.

Anyways, I'm feeling better than earlier with this new job.

Hey, McFuddy, when do you find out about the job you interviewed for?

How was mass yesterday, @EloiseAtThePlaza ?

Is Catholicism thriving where you reside?

  6. I didn't go yesterday.
    Going tomorrow though.

    It is thriving indeed.
Over 80% of people in Croatia are Catholic.
The real number tends to be lower, of course.
    But still....you know.

In Bosnia we're a minority now.

Wow!! That's high. Catholicism thrives in pockets in the US, but it's on the decline. I left it, just doesn't resonate with me anymore. But, the rituals and traditions are beautiful.

I knew a Bosnian in college, Zoran. He had one eyebrow. I thought, 'cool'.

I think he was there to avoid military service. W/e, not my business. His hygiene was terrible. That was my business.

  10. So what are you now

I believe in God, and Jesus' teachings. But, consider myself spiritual, in a broader sense now? I just don't care for organized religion, anymore. I think there is something to glean from most faiths - Islam/Sufism, Buddhism, Judaism...some positives to take away from each. Even Paganism, has some good fruits.

The sacredness of the traditions, the expression of prayers, and so on.

  14. If he was indeed trying to avoid military service, good for him.

Yeah I don't judge him for that at all.

The beautiful music, the concept of making the sacrifice of Jesus Christ present in the Eucharist, the pomp of well executed liturgy...

Yea, mass always felt like attending the Last Supper, every time. But, at the same time, too many things that I didn't agree with.

You know D... One can be a devout Catholic and still refuse assent to doctrine. Just saying... It's in your blood. ;)

  19. I myself am guilty of "picking and choosing" when it comes to religion, unfortunately
