Then drove through a big mud puddle on the way home got some mud stripes all over front of truck. That was fun.

Where I live, home-shops-dirt road-home all in like 7mins.

Then of course, Highwaymen is a great song too, American Remains is one of my favourites, I love singing it, I have to put on a weird voice but I reckon I could nail it especially Weylon and Kristofferson lines. Born and raised in black and white, great song.

 

But honestly, I don't really like Willie Nelson, so all you need is to get Weylon Jennings IMO he is the Highwaymen

He has a horrible whiney voice. Jennings has a deep sexy man voice.

The only Nelson song I like is Poncho and Lefty, he did alright with it.

If you're looking for a really deep connection with a country artist, then please look into Chris Knight because he's a rare, raw song writer who puts his heart into his lyrics and hobestly Mel, I think you'd like it. I know much about Southern states from this guy, you'd even know and been to places he talks about. he's a sad writer though, his stuff speaks to me on emotional levels, I really feel him. There's a few upbeat songs of course but for the most part I find his stories really depressive, which is what I think makes him stand out.

I remember the first time I heard a song, it ain't easy being me.. And I cried while I listen in my car because up until that point, I don't think anybody wrote a song exactly how I was feeling. I'll always be thankful my dad found this artist and it was only because a review said he's the new Steve Earle, but apart from being an artist his main concern is environmental protection which is echoed in many songs.

To him, music will always come 2nd, so that's why he's not as popular as he should be. He's also in a mining union for miners rights. He lives on his own I believe. He always sings about broken marriages and lost women.

If you want a good song, listen to Chris Knight - The Rivers Own. Preferably off the self titled album. It's fantastic. Such simple, but emotional lyrics.
