    I guess that's possible...I haven't known too many Yankees.

A few years ago I discovered that one of my earliest heroes, John Scopes, is buried not more than 20 miles from where I grew up so I made a pilgrimage to the cemetery to pay my respects. If you ever get the chance to watch Inherit The Wind do so.

I wonder if that's where "lightning in a bottle" originated....

Oh wow that's so awesome I wanna go to Congaree... I remember the time I saw my first firefly in Disneyland on a boat ride. Then I was disappointed to learn that it was a little light on fishing line that was floating around... Then a few years later I saw a real one in Texas.

looks like I lost my oyster mushrooms. my liquid culture to give the mycelium a chance is evidently infected, so gonna dump it into a bucket of sawdust iv'e got outside for compost. if it survives, it survives, if not... well, better luck next time.

Hope everyone had a good Mother's Day today, whether you have a reason to celebrate or a reason to pretend it doesnt exist. Hope the day was kind to you either way.

My sweet man made an awesome brunch for me and my two reasons for the season, my mom and my son, then we went to an art festival and looked at art I'll never be able to afford and watched a few street performers. It was a really great day.

He grilled chicken and there was corn casserole, my daughter-in-law's Puerto Riccan rice, and some sweet potato pie.

    Speaking of Mosquitoes,

The Zika scare of 2016 could lead to a yellow fever panic this year if South Florida residents let down their guard when it comes to protecting themselves from disease-carrying mosquitoes.

There hasn’t been a yellow fever outbreak in the United States in more than 100 years, but state health officials are concerned that a large outbreak in Brazil and others in South and Central America could lead to infected travelers bringing the disease to South Florida, which has the right mosquitoes and climate for it to spread.
