I have a bird bath in my backyard. I place seed every day but I don't see any nice birds. Something eats it. I've seen little birds get into the rabbit pen, but they chase them away hehe.

In the winter it's Grackles (sp), they are bullies. Large black birds. They run the good birds off and take their damn food.
In the summer it's Starlings. Same situation.
Or maybe you have raccoons running them off, esp. at night.
Go out and run them off, or if you're mean like me, take a shotgun outside, small one with #7 shot (small B-B size or smaller pellets). Shoo them off and you can get your 'cuties back.

I was taking care of Dad's birds while they were gone, skunks were standing in the chicken's food and water pans. The animals couldn't eat, and it was getting dark and they needed to go in for the night.
So I got out the trusty .22 Long Rifle. Killed the skunks, and shot a hole in the water pan...oops lol.
Only way to get rid of those fuckers without getting sprayed.

 

I remember starlings, we had a German Shepherd... Beau. Anyway the starlings came for the grass sprinkler, but their wings got wet they couldn't fly. So dog goes up and chomp chomp. But had to make sure he doesn't eat them because they also carried diseases. Like the bird flu to the birds.
