I'm just finishing Turn on Tune in Drop out by Leary. Any suggestions for another good book that would link up to this one. I was thinking about Allen Ginsberg; also read Roger Walsh "Spirit of Shamanism" which was good, but Leary was better. Preferably something that will blow my mind and that I will understand later with a little help from the Liberal Subconcious Detective.
    Thanks

I never really liked Ginsberg's writings and none I ever read were anything like Leary's stuff.
There are plenty of crazy authors around who did similiar stuff to Leary, but you might like Alan Watts "The Book (On the taboo against knowing who you are)"

This would be a slightly more comprehensible book you might enjoy, with more subtleties and there are plenty of great insights that should have you going "wow!".
It's not psychedelic like Leary, and is more about Zen Buddhist thought and how that relates to western culture, but it's not academic, boring or just 'dry' philosophy.

you can also check out other books by leary such as "start your own religion" and "the psychedelic experience"

there are some decent modern authors, too. i'd suggest giving terrence mckenna a try, but remember he's kind of wierd and you have to take some of what he says with a grain of salt.....

dr. rick strassman's book "DMT: the spirit molecule" was incredible, it was about how dr. strassman performed the first studies using psychedelics (DMT and psilocybin) in human subjects since the seventies.....some really incredible stories in there.

its completely unrelated, but i'd suggest reading the Tao of Pooh and the Te of Piglet, they both have some good advice for everyday living and will show you how to cultivate certain attitudes that will help you in life and even in psychedelic states of mind (though that's an application you have to learn yourself, they dont ever discuss drugs in those two books)

Thanks for the books guys, I just picked up "The Doors of Perception" by Aldous Huxley and another book by Leary. Went to a cool classic rock Zeppelin remake tonight; I really need to get good on my guitar and start up a band, the music was like a drug for me tonight. Rock on

I'd second the DMT The Spirit Molecule and McKenna's Food of the Gods.
Also Ann and Sasha Shulgin's books.
Gordon Wesson, the man who brough the mushroom cult to American /Western attention is good.
Peyote Religion by Omer Stewart is a good one. Look for the story of Quannah Parker being told he could have only one wife.
Almost exactly as the family tells it!

Check out "MOKSHA", a fantastic book about Aldous Huxley. This is a real mind opener, though I think you should read Huxley's classic "Doors Of Perception" first.
