My was first introudeced to this new technolgical development in music in 1996 and bought my first cd cysyem and cd's in 1997.
i don't remember exactly when, but it was before my grandmother died, and I think she died in 1994.......it wasn't long before that.
my dad brought a cd player in 1986. i was amazed by the "glowing discs" that can't be scratched but i liked the old vinyl sound better & still do.
1986, £450 (approx $750) for a lame ghetto-blaster with a CD player on the top, I thought it rocked back then lol
first stereo system: 1979 (turn table and 8track recording capability, yeah baby) first CD player about 88-89, although a rommie had one before. but one of these days I'll think about a cd player for the car other than the Walkman car kit.
I was in college, I had a walkman... and I used it to plug into my boombox through the tape deck..... it was probably around '93-94 first cd I ever remember buying was CCR's chronicle.....
I got my first real cd player in christmas of 99 and i was 11. i got a lame compilation cd from Zellers in my stocking so i popped it in and played it.
For my 15th bday in '93 from my parents. It was a 5 disc turntable, that I hooked into my step-dad's old amp and heavy assed floor speakers. First CDs.. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, NIN, and Simon and Garfunkle.
