What would make you stop visiting the Hipfora altogether?

Besides the obvious reason of the site going down forever.

 

If all the good people stopped posting, leaving only the heartless, selfish, mean-spirited hippie-haters who have dominated most of the political discussions in the last few years.

 

All people are good if you can bring yourself to open up for it.

 

If what I have seen so far hasn't made me stop coming here, I don't know what will.

I did stop coming here temporarily around 2008-2009 following the great purge, when most of the best contributors were banned.

 

There are a few massive hypocrites on here, but they aren't really enough to make me leave.

Sometimes the amount of crap on the sex forums has made me want to leave.

 

If there were an increase in intolerant posters. Some individuals do not know how to disagree in a civilized manner. I could understand closed-mindedness on a conservative forum, not on a liberally-oriented forum like Hip Forums. The people on here are tolerant for the most part. I have run into a few narrow minded individuals who purport to be care-free. Some of the few intolerant ones I have run into here could teach a thing or two to a couple of "Nazis" I have run into on the firearms forums I frequent.

To you hippies on here: you would be surprised at the number of tolerant persons on the reputable firearms forums (Firearms Talk, Gunboards, the Firing Line, et al). Most people want to get along for the most part, and not all of us are on our best behavior all the time. And in the heat of a passionate arguement, we can lose our good manners. That is not so bad if we make appropriate amends soon after.
Without strong disagreements, we lose our best opportunities to learn [if we are humble]. Afterall, the Holy Bible tells us the beginning of wisdom is humility.
As stated in other posts, I am not a hippy and do tend towards a conservative approach to life. The beginning of Fatherhood has ushered the passing of many a well-meaning pleasure seeker. Laugh with me on this. I am glad to say that my stay here over the past few months has been pleasant.

Zombie Apocalypse

 

I left from mid 2009 til late 2012. Odd bits on other forums. But otherwise just spent more time chatting with friends either face to face/ at a distance.

And ofcourse life existed before forums .. : D

I'd keep in touch with key friends like ones I met here, regardless of HF.

and there's also the permaban, although i suppose there are still ways to get around that.

i stopped temporarily at that point too. i even tried to get myself banned, but apparently skip just loves me too much for that.

i also stopped temporarily last summer, because i was really busy and just didn't have time to play on the internet. so i guess if i got permanently really busy, that could do it.


as i continue to think about it, life in prison would probably be another thing to keep me away from here forever. i mean, i assume you can't get on hipforums while in jail. i don't know for a fact though.

 

If they stop paying me to be here I'm gone!

if anything would, it would already have. it could happen randomly of course. and some day my physical form will cease to function.

i don't have any particular commitment to keep coming back here, and my frequency of doing so, varies widely.

there's usually not a lot here that interests me THAT much. but when its been a while i get curious to see if anything interesting has.

i don't come here expecting it to. this place has cured me of that, a long time ago, but i'm still always curious that something might.
