What were the trends of the last decade?

My boyfriend and I were thinking about this the other day. What were the trends of the last decade?

In the past-

The 60's:The hippie years
The 70's: Disco was big
The 80's; big hair, too much makeup and Michael Jackson was God.
The 90's: Tattoos/piercings, grunge music, parties, raves, skateboarding

2000-2010???

 

I've thought about it, too, and I'll be interested to see what others say. I'll probably say to myself 'of course!' but all I ever come up with is: a combination of all those decades before us. It's so hard to see it in perspective.

 

The decade of 2000- 2010 will be looked back upon as the decade of sheeple, looking for the government to give them hand out's and tell them what they can and what they can't do, and sit back and watch the country slip into socialism because they were to stupid and apathetic to give a damn..

That's a tough one... Let's see...metrosexuals, everybody afraid of being gay, maybe? Everyone too terrified to be confident because they're not as good as the celebrities being shoveled in their faces? Boredom? Wal-Mart?

 

1970's... nixon breaks the britton woods agreement and, starts the rollback of the new deal and, the re-emrgeance of social darwinism.


1980's... reagan-thatcher usher in the zero-sum society (transfer of wealth from the lower and middle classes to the wealthest class.)

1990's... collapse of the sovite union and, fall of marxist-stalianist economics.

rise of the laissez-faire and the neo-liberalism corporate state.

2000-2007... the corporate state dominant.

2007-to now... the corporte state suffers first major world wide economic upheaveal since the late 1920's.

2010-2020... ?

Fast food, obesity and the collapse of society.

I don't actually believe that.

 

Oo, good ones. And the obesity thing. But alternative medicine and mind-body health are making a comeback, too.

Hmm, from the musical standpoint especially in the genre of rock music, I'd say the re-popularization of shred, glam(or just makeup) rock, but mixed with more modern influences from the other eras namely the 90's. Generally speaking, it's all pretty cool.

 

This is the beginning of a new form of mind control.

in the 80s chicks would go out clubbing in bed clothes covered alot more than bikinies--but was super sexy----hell i was dealing and chicks would hitchhike like that---i alwys thought that was dangerous as hell but those chicks brought inalot of money-----they were probably half hooker i never asked--just said dont you think thats dangerous anser was theyer just men and we know how to handle them------they certainly knew how to seperate them from their money---fuck i had alot of fun in the 70-90s
