My boyfriend and I are going to New Zealand for about a month starting mid-July. I was wondering if anyone could help us out in finding the "must-see" events, places, whatever etc. Nothing overly touristy though please.

    :)
    Thanks in advance.

Both, we found a bus tour that allows us to stay for however many days we like in any city. All we have to do is hop on or off their bus on certain days. So our schedule is pretty much open to anything any everything on both islands.

well I live in Christchurch in the south island which is alright, but don't come out of your way to come here or anything.

the west coast of the south island is great.

as for the north island I've only ever been to Wellington, but I'm comfortable enough in saying that its the best city in the country so make sure to go there :)

Actually we had already planned on staying in Christchurch for a couple days, it's where my sister and her fiance currently live. :)
And Thanks we'll be sure to check out Wellington.

Yeah I actually know sod all when it comes to good places in NZ, so if no one else responds here I think a few other people have posted threads asking of nice spots to go so you could try looking at them if you havent already

and I dont know if I imagined this or if its true, but I think somewhere Skip has a bunch of tourist places with info & all that and NZ is one of the countries

The most common, and probably the best route would be:
When you leave Auckland drive to Rotorua, then drive to Wellington past Mt Ruapehu. I think thats all on state highway one.
Then when you go to the south island, I would go down the west coast <The best scenery in the country.
