I have a few favorites but one that I really miss was one of these (the one in the pic was not mine but almost identical to mine.) 99 Isuzu Trooper...loaded with all the bells and whistles. Best 4WD I've ever owned in my life. I've had some pretty good Jeeps that don't compare to this thing. I wish I still had it but it was a long time ago. What about you guys?
1977 VW Beetle (Not mine but looked identical but mine had badass wheels) 2004 Jeep Wrangler (not mine)
I miss my 02 Ford Ranger..regular cab, 4 cyl, stick shift..I beat the shit out of that truck and I got good gas mileage at the same time..
I always wanted one of those when I was younger. :afro: My cousin had one that was pretty sweet. Lots of shiny things under the hood and a custom paint job.
A buddy that I grew up with had a 1977 VW Beetle. That thing went through hell...it was indestructible.
I had an 86 ranger in high school. 5 speed. With the exception of 1 car I've always driven manuals. I loved that thing. My friends would always fight over who had to sit in the middle and have me shift gears between their legs. haha I had 8 people in that car once. It was a beast. I loved it.
I found a picture of me with my Beetle in 1995. The flat tire was the story of my life. I could have worked in a pit crew for as good as I got at changing flat tires.
Nice VW. I just noticed these pics after I edited the pic out of the OP because nobody was posting pics. I have a 79 VW bus btw.
I did post a picture of my actual bug on here too. I love old VW's. I'll have another one again one day.
I wish I still had it. I traded it for a 1978 Olds cutlass with a 455 so I could drive faster with more people in the car. I was a stupid kid.
I saw that. Nice rims on yours. A number of my friends also have VWs. Mostly buses though. I used to also have a 72 bus but I sold it to a buddy. At one time our group had 8 buses and 3 bugs. It was pretty cool when we all took our buses camping together. :afro:
That sucks! I had a chance to buy one for pretty cheap a couple of years ago. It ran but it needed a lot of work and I just didn't want to get into that big of a project.
Growing up in the Bronx, it was the subway and public transportation. I didn't even get a DL until I was out of the army for 3 yrs- In 1974 I bought a 1964 VW Beetle >My 1st car!:driving:- Man, I was the hippest guy in the neighborhood:coolgleamA: -10years old already when I got it, I gave to to my kid brother a few years later. I think he drove that thing until it finally gave up the ghost at 130,000 miles - Best car?? I dont know- -but it was my first car and that makes it kinda special. Maybe these days things are different.- With loans & leasing ,,people drive different cars every year- ---not mine>but identical Good memory lane thread- I think the best car I ever owned was the 06 Acura TL- with all the bells and whistles -needed the cash, sold it in 2010 Now,,Im behind the wheel of a 2011 Subaru Forrester - Hey,it might be the best transportation vehicle I ever owned (actually its the 1st car I ever leased in my life---------- ) Its a good vehicle, hopefully it lasts a long time-
My first car was a 1970s (don't remember the exact year) Datsun 210. It was orange and was my moms car at first. She let me drive it while she was at work but I was supposed to stay in town with it. One day I was with a friend and we left town and hit some gravel roads. I rolled it over into a ditch. My mom was pissed! A friends dad straightened the top and put glass back in it and it became my car...complete with the wrinkled roof. We called it the Orange Crush. I drove the hell out of that car. Wouldn't die. Coincidentally, 3 months later my mom finally allowed me to drive her replacement car. I totaled it. I thought her head was going to explode. Holy shit...was she mad!!
first-'37 Plymouth coupe in '55=25 bucks and it was pristine. '49 Olds 2 door, 50 Olds 4 door, '57 Olds J2, 3 carbs from the factory, '64 Olds 442, '55 Mercury------oh, there're so many more. Afterthought-- I was a big kid and my dad taught me to drive when I was 8 years old. (see gallery-9 y-o on my bike) I used to drive him around in the country so he could shoot at crows or some such. Bad for him, 'cuz then I used to hot wire his cars and drive around with my friends when the opportunity presented. Got caught once. Hayzoos--that means I've been driving for 66 frickin' years!
