After your training (if you are lucky you have a Coven support but most of the time you will study solo which is not an easy thing to do) and you become comfortable in your Craft what type of Witch will you be? Herbalist? A crystal Witch? A healer. A forest Witch? A specialization is what the word suggests, becoming extremely adept in the path you take. You will know because things, spirit animals, will come to you. If you are a healer you will know instinctively that you are one; when you go to a store which is empty does it immediately fill up with clients? Are your hands always very hot? Do pets live a long time around you? Just some clues. There are others. Internal knowledge like being psychic, you will know. Herbalism, though, takes time and learning. External knowledge takes time to learn. Most important take your time. You are not participating in a race. Set your ego aside. Open to possibilities.
One book I found is Plant Magic for the Beginner Witch by Ally Sands. I tend to steer away from "cook books" yet this book I give 5 stars.
I enjoy the interaction of a group of like-minded, cross section (though prodominently female- 'for the Goddess' value) - though I tend to practice in a more solitary manner
