What do you do when someone cooks you a meal with fish or something in it, because they thought is is "vegetarian"? I always feel mean if they have spent ages preparing something and I can't eat it! I do always tell them beforehand I am veggie but so many people seem to think that fish or even bacon ([IMG]) is acceptable..

I just explain well in advance exactly what vegetarian means. If by some chance, someone who doesn't know that I'm veggie cooks me something with meat in it, I politely explain that I can't eat it. If they can't understand that, then fuck 'em.

I always eat up bringing my food so it's not usually a problem.

Otherwise I will ask what we'll be having and should it not be veggie say 'sorry but I can't eat that' and help prepare something else to eat.

Well I do have a meat intollerance, but it's purely psychological (sp).

Bringing my own food is just done out of courtesy to ease the burden on the host. Then no one can say they have to make a special effort for me.

When I say food I just mean a veggie burger or quorn fillet. I'll quite happily eat whatever is offered as side dishes.
