What people really want with the information they ask you

When you ask a person asks you about yourself, do you ever stop and think why? When a person asks you your age, do you realize it's so that they will know your mindset and judge you according to your age and what the way they think you act? When a person asks you about your job, aren't they trying to decide your education and financial level? Don't these questions really mean what are you doing with your life and does it meet my standards? Can I like you or is your life so pathetic that I have make a list that judges you before I allow myself to make you anything other than the butt of my jokes? Is this paranoid or has a lot of what I have said been more than a little honest?

 

You speak the truth, when people ask what you do, where you went to school etc they are often sizing you up, judging you.....figuring out where you fit in the economic class structure we have....


but sometimes they are simply making polite conversation...


but other times they are judging/seeing if you are worthy for networking purposes.


but sometimes they want to talk to you, but not about the weather.

 

I can see your point to some degree, and some people may truly be that way. But if I ask someone about themselves, it's because I'm truly interested and looking for similarities between us in our lives that might result in a friendship, or just casual, unexpected conversation to brighten my day. I don't have any ulterior motives whatsoever.

 

actually I don't irritate when people ask me those kind of questions, but..
One day I went to my lover's home and there were his 2 grandmothers. They started to ask me several silly questions... about my surname, parents, etc... I thought they will never stop. I blushed and couldn't breath. My lover saw me dying and we went out. Then I had fit of hysterics on the street and when he couldn't calm me down he became angry with me because his neighbours could see me jumping and waving my hands madly..

I know what you're getting at but maybe they just wanna start a conversation, and what a better way than asking questions?

 

I'm really hesitant at giving anybody my personal information in real life situations. Just because I'm afraid it will be used against me somehow.

 

i only give out my info to ppl who really need to know. that is about all who gets my info. what i have in site is all you get and that is all. no mater how much of a converstion someone is trying to start they are still judging you and deciding on weather to continue talking to you or if they need to make up an excuse to leave.

 

It could also be used to try and show you have things in common....

but then if people will form opinions of you based of these trivial all inclusive attributes, i say fuck 'em!
but yeh it is kinda hard not you judge people like that, having gone to school and associating different degree's of education to each year, i suppose it just lasts, and the shit about 'what do you do' i just say 'nothing' and then they're like 'really' and i say 'yep' and sometimes people turn off, others look at you weird and have further probing questions.. some people actually start just talking to you properly after that. The reason i tell them I do nothing, and say no more, is because i actually don't like those kind of questions being asked, and I'm not keen from the get go, it's immediately apparent it's probably going nowhere, and could end up in some pointless conversation where neither person really gets to know ANYTHING about one another, and possibley finds out the wrong things yes, and so they may not want to know you based on those certain thigns, so i just don't enjoy knowing that's what could be happening, i would like to be able to end the conversation quickly them knowing as soon as possible they don't want top tlak to me, than worrying they'll make an excuse eventually... it always surprises me when people stick around and still flow with just conversation, in fact it throws me so bad i find myself actually tlkaing to that person without any kind of anxieties or impatience! Maybe this osunds like i don't like people, but i don't like that people don't like people, i never dislike people ever i have no idea why and you might say bullshit but how can you dislike someone without really knowing them first? If someone fucks me over i won't like them... but yeh you are right, ever fucking time..... brutal honesty, one should sacrifice oneself for the revealing of these SOCIAL inter nets, it's quite shit how in normal every day away from the tv moments we're operating....

dude, i have this friend who remembers everything! she asks people questions like where they live, their bday, their parents names, and all kinds of shit, then she keeps track of it all and to freak people out she'll like go up to them and tell them about everything that's happened in their life since they were 5. it's craziness. kinda freaks me out, man. i swear she's workin for the god damned government or soon will be. damn, that's scary. i think i've just scared the fucking shit outa myself. fuck.
