Was wondering what musical instruments everyone on here played. I am playing and taking lessons in acoustic guitar right now. In the past I have played trumpet, dulcimer (which I built), a banjo (very tiny bit). I really like acoustic guitar the best. I can play, write and sing to my hearts content.
I can't play guitar because my hands are too small. I do sing, however...I think that can be considered an instrument. I was known to sing in front of a few million people back in the day.
I dont play anything, and I cant sing. My music teacher said I was a music invalid. That was very mean.
Guitar, Harmounium, used to play Tabla bt that went out the window... Piano was another one. I sing loads... Now whether im doing it well, thats another story
My voice is kind of going downhill...I think it's because I quit singing a while ago...the most I do now is sing while driving and cleaning the house. Plus...allergies don't do me much justice.
I asked at contatada practice once if I was singing bass or tenor? The director said I didn't sing either very well and maybe I should consider not singing at all. I quit but the organist told me later that I should not quit and I did sing that year but it was my last. Then once at church choir practice they narrowed the field down b/c of wrong voice notes and me and one other was left and the director said he just didn't know who was off but it was one of us. We both sounded just alike and I finally thought I had found someone that sang like me. That also ended choir for me. But I sang and played at a funeral with my sister-in-law (her on dulcimer and me on guitar) and everyone said it was wonderful. I think my singing improves when I play guitar and sing with it. Maybe that's the answer.
Unless your hands are the size of a small child's, this is not true! I said it before and I'll say it again, look for Li Jie on Youtube
I used to play the guitar. It would take me a bit to get back into the groove - but yeah I can play the guitar.
I thought the same thing after realizing everyone played trumpet better than me and I couldn't sight read hardly at all, after failing miserablly at piano as a child, failing miserablly with banjo also, not to mention my bordom with dulcimer. But guitar seemed to open a door for me that let the music pent up inside me finally escape. I had always written poetry now I could actually put guitar music to it. Imagine trying to put words to a trumpet (I was made fun of in jr high music class by instructor when I wrote music for trumpet and stopped for a long time). With dulcimer and bango the words never came but with guitar it is different. Do ppl play better than me? Of course they do (sometimes I even wonder if I play okay but my goal was to play for myself and write the songs I had inside and promised God that it would just be for me and Him unless otherwise asked. Since that time I was led to play for my father on his deathbed, my wife's classroom, I used a video of me playing and singing in church, and a funeral. Maybe J.I. you are like I used to be and just need to find the right way you were meant to express your music. My father could not play an instrument his whole life but he was one of the best whistlers I ever heard and many ppl commented on his beautiful whistling. It was his way of expressing his music.
