I'm new to this forum and so far I like what I'm reading. Although I share a lot of hippie views I don't quite consider myself one. I'd like to know what makes a hippie nowadays? how do they differ from those of the counterculture of the 60's and 70's?
you are not a hippie because of what clothes you wear you are not a hippie because you do drugs you are not a hippie because you are a vegitarian what i think makes someone a hippie is that they love. I think that if you truly cherish this planet and everyone and thing on it that makes you a hippie. treat this world with care and respect. and no war or fighting. PEACE. but that's just my opinion JOn
its hard enough being a human with out being a hippy ect ect ect but my definition of a hippy is someone thats open minded and non judgemental
a hippy is a peaceful anarchist who understands his responsability to care for mother earth and his fellow brothers and sisters
There are many definitions for this word. My summarized definition, which is an all-around loving and kind person who respects and cares for the planet and the life on it, may be much different than someone else's. I think most of us can agree on this forum, however, that it is a lifestyle and not a fashion statement. It is not the image one has, but it is the actions that are taken. Peace be to you, gjaniet. Welcome to the forums!
If you're wondering if you're a hippie, you're almost there! the last defining article is that a hippie sends cash to the Authentic Hippie Association, PM me and i'll give you the address.. I kill me!
I'm not wondering if I am a hippy or not. I just wanted to get ppl's opinion regarding the question. What I consider myself is a human being trying to find her calling in life and make a difference in the world.
gjaniet, To quote someone on the forums, a nice definition of a Hippie: Long hair does not make one a Hippie. The clothes you wear do not make you a Hippie. The use of drugs definitely doesn't make you a Hippie. Being a Hippie has nothing to do with being rebellious. Native Americans would say its "Tafunka" ( A Way of Life). Its a matter of respect. Respect for others and their right to be who they are. Respect for Mother Earth and all that dwell upon it. Mostly its a respect for yourself. Allowing yourself to be who you are. Search the inner you, listen to your heart, you may be surprised by what you find. Two paths diverge in a woods, I take the one less traveled, that made all the difference, its up to you to choose. Peace.... Farmout
