i believe that drugs or appearance have nothing to do with being a hippie, even though most of the culture today thinks so. being a hippy is someone who believes in peace and freedom and are willing to rebel against the man. a hippy is someone who accepts people and overlooks their petty differences. but also drugs do help us with mind expansion and breaking through. but so many peaople today have a stereotypical view of the hippy. in your opinion, what does make a hippy a hippy?
And that, if anything, would make you a hippie. I see a hippie as an open-minded, limited conformist; because, hell, we all have to conform to SOME things...
*thinks back to South Park* Being a Goth is all about being a non-conformist... Alright, how do I join you guys? All you have to do is wear black clothes and listen to the same music we do.
I think that hippies are definetely the ones who refuse being labelled or attributed to a certain category, and moreover, no one can really be a real hippie these daze, because, let's face it, nobody is willing enough/not enough ppl are willing enough to give up their life in society, their comfort, to go live in a remote community. I'd do it, but there are certain things I can't give up that are part of my ordinary social life. So going halfways is not hippie, halfways is altering the old daze. Si instead of calling myself a hippie, I say that I have many elements of hippie belief, to quote just a few exapmles: -peace -universal love -freedom of counciousness -Jim Morrison -music -revolutionnary spirit -political awareness -mystical creep -moonlight watcher -etc, etc, etc
DSK, being open minded means being tolerent of other people's opinions, it means accepting them and not being as blatently insulting as you have been.
Thats like asking what makes a rapper a rapper (the answer being rapping; you can only be a hippy if you spend all your time hipping)
