stupid question perhaps, but yeah i thought that if i wouldn't be sure about this i would never understand anything about teh rastafari religion, since its one of the crucial elements i suppose... is zion the rastafarian equilavent of the christian heaven or is it solely africa or something else? what exactly is zion?
Zion has many meanings in Rasta. It can symbolise the christian equivalent of heaven, it basically IS heaven but in another name. It can also mean africa, more importantly ethiopia, the birthplace of Jah Rastafari. It can also be the word to describe the frame of mind that most rasta's have, as opposed to being a child of babylon. In the kebra nagast (Rasta holy book) zion is the name given to the housing around the ark of the covenant. I hope that clears it up for you. jah bless
