it's a hard question, whether you have a lot of stuff or not so much stuff. i have thought not too hard about this....and i think mine is my bicycle. i ride it almost everyday. i use it for transportation and for fun. i would be more upset if someone stole my bike than anything else i own i think. i don't own anything very valuable i guess. another question: what is your oldest possession? i'm not sure it's the very oldest, but in my desk drawer i have a swiss army pocketknife with the boyscouts symbol on it. i must have gotten it when i was in middle school. and i have it within arms reach whenever i'm using my computer (not that i need a knife to use the computer...i'm saying it is a possession that is in close proximity, not something that i have at my parents' house or in storage). i also have a few books that i found that were published in the late 1800s. so that's pretty fucking old, but by oldest, i mean longest in your possession.
I guess it's my verus pro. Cost me $10k and it makes me money and it's just badass, so probably that. I don't really care about possessions I just value time but with money to do what I want.
for most prized i couldnt think of anything so i just thought "what would i risk my life for if the house was on fire" and my only answer was an envelope of cash i keep on hand usually located on my bedside table oldest would be my first stuffed pink panther
I'd say my kids, except they're not my possessions. Then I'd say my mind, but if we're really talking about tangible things that can be carried, I'd say my computer. I have a lot of important info on my computer that I'd be devastated if I lost. I have a few "heirlooms" but they're not super important to me, it's just nice to have things I can pass down. I've also started up a new paper journal, so I have important things on paper, in case something happens to my computer...so basically my thoughts and ideas that have been written down are the most important "things" to me. Of course I'd throw all those things in the fire to save my kids, if I had to make a choice like that.
It's the best scan tool available, aside from manufacturer tools and the autologic which runs $80k. It's a 10" touch screen tablet, windows xp embedded. All solid state. 250gb harddrive, cooling tubes. Wifi, bluetooth, full wireless scanning I can watch data on a car from across the shop. 4 channel oscilloscope, digital graphing meter and multimeter, ignition scope, client and vehicle database, can run a 5 gas analyzer on it, J2534 pass-thru device to code and program modules. Best as in most versatile and inclusive software on the market period. Built in component test library and troubleshooter that is unmatched. http://www1.snapon.com/diagnostics/us/VERUSPRO?docid=63869& No way I would spend that kind of cash on a computer, ever. But you are paying for the software and the R&D, and it also buys yourself equity by investing in yourself in this field.
yeah i mean tangible things. rat doesn't know how to play by the rules. i hope you have it backed up somewhere else. i hardly have any of my stuff backed up. tv shows that i don't really care about losing. music that would kinda suck to lose...but i have other forms of music and i don't have that much downloaded. but pictures, i should probably back those up on a flash drive.
Material possessions mean nothing. Maybe you need to up your dose of miprocin and you will see the light.
I guess it's liberating to say nothing. I don't have a prized possession. I don't give a shit about any of my stuff.
No, I don't really have my stuff backed up and that bothers me, but I'm honestly not likely to do it anytime soon, either. I've lost all of my data a few times before, so the world wouldn't end, but it would truly make me upset for a considerable period of time. Actually I think a lot of my stuff is backed up, but not all of it.
..and my oldest possession is my first teddy bear called heart to heart bear that has a heart beat... eh, I guess if I were Forced to take something from a burning building, i'd go with the teddy bear, why not..
This is the moment we all realize that our most prized possession is our child hood doll/teddy going to post a pic of mine...
you guys were made for each other  (and such typical HF replies. i didn't know random thoughts was full of hippies too haha) i had to think a little bit to come up with an answer. i'm not a very materialistic person, but i can acknowledge the fact that i like certain stuff. otherwise....i wouldn't have it. well, i have plenty of stuff that i really don't give a damn about, but certain things i do like. i don't watch much TV, but i have a nice one. i would rather it not get smashed, but if it did i wouldn't be heartbroken. so i wouldn't call that a prized possession. but i have had my bike get stolen once before. it sucked. no matter how much miprocin or whatever i take, RAT!! i like my bike a lot, so it's my "prized possession" for this light-hearted thread. but maybe i AM too materialistic, because i'm even a little pissed off that i lost my favorite winter hat at a restaurant two weekends ago. my wife gave it to me and it was comfortable, warm and nice looking. it doesn't make me who i am. nothing i own does. but i sure like owning a few things. my jar of psychedelics would be another prized possession but not my most. i might try to save that shit from a fire though! depending you, and mostly i, need to get a flash drive or two and back up some shit. i really should
Something happens when you lose all your things, and you realize that claiming to be or even wanting to be un-materialistic is pointless. We live lives, we grow comfortable with things and even if we don't realize it, if we lose those things with or without our prior awareness of losing it, we will miss the level of comfort we had with the things that made up our material world. It doesn't make you more or less of a good person to appreciate the things you have.
My house would be my most prized. If it were on fire i would try to put the fire out. Oldest is likely a snoopy christmas ornament...havnt seen it in a while though maybe its lost. I have a miniture cannon my aunt gave me when i was 7 or so. I would have to look through my stuff to remember when i got some of those other older things.
