2004 was one of the best years for new music for me I can remember in a long long time and partly because of some of those records rhasta p. mentioned an' all. 2005 is shaping up to be pretty fine too now we're nearly half way in.

late 60's and early 70's are all great but the year that had most influence on my musical taste is 1992.

Black Crowes - Southern Harmony And Musical Companion
    Jayhawks - Hollywood Town Hall
    Blind Melon - Blind Melon
Faith No More - Angel Dust
Dream Theater - Images And Words
    Screaming Trees - Sweet Oblivion
Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine
Kyuss - Blues For The Red Sun
    Megadeth - Countdown To Extinction
    Bad Religion - Generator
    Stone Temple Pilots - Core
    Alice In Chains - Dirt

how can you compare these days to the 60's all the people that do like this generation of music all listen to the same thing...back in the 60's and 70's there was variety to choose from

most of it being rock n roll, there was still many subcategories to choose from, folk rock, psychedelic rock, hard rock, etc.

now most of the rock is set into one category, rock
the rap all sounds the same to me
and the pop stars always say that they need to lip-sync in concerts because they have to dance...what about james brown, he danced and he didn't lip-sync to me music will never be as good as in the old days

are you saying there's no variety nowadays?

i could name great bands making all those genres of music and than some.

what have you been listening to?

    good job being open-minded.

shit i wrote a huge rant about how nobody cares about most of the musicthe people on here claim to love, but it got deleted...i may re type it sometime...

the jist though was that the people here forget too much of the bands that dont fit their little molds of "cool"

BeeGees, ABBA, great bands that dont get included in things like this...

and dont say that most new muci is bad, most of it in the past was just as bad, we just forget about it and pick and choose...
