Greetings. To me, it is still a mystery which of the philosophical currents I have been able to study fully identifies with me. However, I have a great love for the Greek classics, not to mention the good meditations of Marcus Aurelius. Honestly, sometimes I wonder why hardly anyone questions anything anymore, and we just follow a system that often does not even make us happy and, in my case, just gives me apathy :/
I am a huge fan of Marcus Aurelius too, especially his Meditations. Epictetus and Diogenes are also favorites of mine; in a way, Diogenes was the original hippie. The philosophy school he was linked to--Cynicism--predated and heavily influenced Stoicism, the philosophy school I enjoy reading about the most. I am a pretty terrible Stoic, though. In terms of newer(ish) philosophies, I admire existentialism, particularly the works of its philosophers Soren Kierkegaard, Victor Frankl, Simone de Beauvoir, and Irvin D. Yalom (a psychiatrist who grounds his work in existentialism). Michel Focault and Eric Fromm have both written a great deal about society and power, and I have found their writings indispensable.
I admit it without any shame. The truth is, I am one of those who think that those who bite off more than they can chew end up achieving less. Or, maybe I'm just more of a cynic than I thought. But you know, too much erudition isn't divine, and besides, it's costly. I'm more of a fan of reflections, to be honest.
