I got given some seeds last year from someone at work she got them when she was on holiday in spain I've tried to see what they are but no avail I planted one and obviously it grew. I still don't know what it is any ideas ???
As far as I can tell those are Castor Beans and a Castor Oil plant. The beans are posionous, the plant is posionous too. They are pretty cool looking when they get bigger and start turning colors.
I've googled castor oil plant and it is one, the seeds are fatal if swallowed !!!not that I'm going to do that, also the plant has a few blobs of goo in the stems, there realy tiny !!! It has already started to turn a coppery colour if you look at it in different angles !! thanks
they get very large,, you will want to repot it they are good for mole control and deer control they are a beautiful plant though
definately not a house plant then lol, I have no room for it outside so I might do a bit of urban gardening. It's still only about a foot high and it's taken a year to do that !!
a year??? lol im surprised its still alive,, poor things probably root bound terrible in that tiny pot. they grow to 8 or 10 feet tall and about the same in span in a normal growing season outdoors. dili said she will post a pic of ours ..
here is one of our smaller castor plants.. Its about 4 foot high in this pic (and about 4 foot across too )and was planted in late may
crikey thats big !!! the weather could also have something to do with it too it took about 2 weeks for it to sprout and a further 2 more weeks for the leaves to develop properly
If you have got a couple more months of warm weather like we do then put it in a 5 gallon bucket outside and throw some fertilizer to it.. youll have a big ole plant by the end of the season..
Hi, they are good for mole control and deer control they are a beautiful plant though I edited out the link. Sorry, can't have links in posts. Peace, poor_old_dad
