Easy, to procreate, learn to better our species (in relative terms), and teaching our young to live in the current society so they can do the former.

Exactly. So just live one day at a time, and make the best of it.

No. You are a vagina. You should get filled.

Wrong. The void in life results from an individuals inability to find and/or understand their own purpose.

    What void? Your vagina?

I forget why I started reading your pathetic posts again in the first place.

That is good. But not best. Purpose is not something you find, it is something you create. The OP seems not to understand that there are happy people in the world that, nevertheless, do not need the delusion of a God or universal purpose. They practice their own purpose and connection to their world and the people in it. Happiness is a material act...of the body. It is an act of will. Not an abstract, cerebral conclusion. Not a universal given.

Creating and finding a purpose are two sides of the same coin.

It is definitely true that having a purpose plays a big part in whether or not someone is happy, and that purpose can be anything. As long as we have something that drives us, something to work towards, we tend to be happy - or at least happier than if we didn't.

I couldn't agree more. However, it should be said that most people don't consciously create self purpose. It's created through natural instinct and decision making through ones own life. That being said, one could easily earn a skill set over the course of adolescence that creates their life's purpose, but that does not mean that the same person is readily accepting or understanding of this.

I agree completely. One of my go-to cliches is "happiness is a choice, not an event."

The funny thing is that happiness is both selfless and selfish in the extreme. By connecting to something larger than our angst, we transcend our petty suffering selves. In fact suffering becomes a motivational drive. But we also take ownership of our world and everything in it. It is ours.

*So it's not an issue of what purpose the world has in store for us, but what purpose we give to the world day-to-day through our practical, material actions*

I listened to a Tiger Woods interview on the radio on the occasion of his return to golf recently. The reporter asked, "Will you be nervous?" He said, "Of course, I'll be nervous! It's a good thing, it means that I care! That's why I play the game; it's the rush!"

So here's suffering not as denial of the worth of life, but the contrary. Here's someone whose sense of purpose is worth suffering for. Worth dying for. For him. Here's someone who suffers happily.

Greengirl - I love the pic of the b&w chick - any chance she's alive and would like to meet a dumb jerk?

There are so many points as to why one should live... So, I'll limit myself to 1000 not to bore anyone...

Live for the ones who love you and for the ones who hate you.

If you're reading this - there's a ball of a chance that you're alive. So, why not enjoy if you're gonna be around? You're gonna have to bite the dust one day anyway - but in the meantime - you can make the ride real good. ...and I don't mean drugs or even sex or booze at that. I mean look outside at the sun - how it so well placed not to burn us but simply to keep us warm. Look at all the unfortunate people all over the world!!! If you have a computer, chances are you are in a fairly comfortable place. Love someone - you can. Have you been hurt - will the person you love, love you back fully? Who knows but, you know that you've done right - sleep in peace tonight. Think nice things - who really wants to think awful things? Evil comes from the mind. Think of someone you love or would like to love and how original you could be @ it. You will send off good vibes - look happy even if you're sad. Positiveness attracts positiveness. Help a neighbor for the first time - he'll give you a beautiful smile and you'll feel good too. Put 2$ that goes for the research of cancer remedy - you will have been a great social help - better than being a soldier in any army.

My friends - life is great. Don't ever think otherwise - if sometimes you're in the pit - know that it's temporary - fighting to climb back may not bring you back totally to the top but even if you can only better your sittuation by 25% - take it!!!
