Fifty years ago I read a scifi book about a "retarded" man named Rik. He started to regain his lost memory as the novel progressed. What he initially recalled was that he used to have a job analyzing Nothing (with a capital "N"). Can anyone identify this volume. I used to read Robert Heinlein, Lester Del Ray, Raymond Jones, etc. Help.
