What Is That Chill Down Your Back?

    I don't know about the rest of you. But even though I am very, very liberal for the most part, the US national anthem still sends a chill down my spine, because I do still think all things considering, I believe in what this country stands for. But that is not the point of this thread. Because actually, my question is a more simple one.

    What on earth is that chill you sometimes get down your back (I sometimes get "needles" on my face too FWIW)? I also notice it, when I hear a song that is very uplifting or touching to me.

    What is that chill? What is it called? And has science even bothered to study it and give it a name? (I know your hair sticking on end could just be a fear response. But why would something touching to you produce that?)
