No, they are completely different chemicals. They are both stimulants, and they both work on a similar neurotransmitter, dopamine. Cav's answers good. I'd check out the wiki entry on both too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocaine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methamphetamine Speed is... I dunno why anyone does that shit. You can feel it poisoning your brain. It makes me never try any strange pills which are sold to me as 'X' without knowing the contents. If you're one of these people... I hate you.
speed has a varied definition for where ever u live but around speed is any upper(meth, amphetamine, ritilan, coke, etc)
"Speed" can refer to anything that speeds you up other than coke/crack, including amphetamine, biphetamine, dextroamphetamine, methamphetamine, ephedra, methylphenidate, etc. Historically, it's been used to describe amphetamines but can mean any of these things. Cocaine is an alkaloid in the coca plant that lasts only short periods of time, with crack being even shorter-acting. It provides a "sped-up" euphoria, but is expensive and short-lived, which is why some prefer "speed", which is longer acting but also more toxic to the body and brain. From the 1940s forward, pharmaceutical companies have prescribed amphetamines for everything from weight loss to depression to ADHD to narcolepsy and beyond. In the '60s there was even something called a "benzedrine inhaler" which contained amphetamine...people would remove the strip and dip it in coffee for a super-buzz. There was also injectable methedrine (meth), and a variety of other "speedy" concoctions that caused the largest mass addiction in history: everyone from soldiers in WWII to housewives and children took speed daily, all sanctioned by the US government. Now they portray meth as the "devil's drug" (which it is, but no more so than when they handed it to everyone who walked through the door). You should do more research on amphetamines...it's a fascinating story.
Yes they are similar in effect when snorted. Meth lasts longer, so it costs less in the long run. If you say "my boy has been doing speed" on the street, then you are referring to Meth. But technically, speed includes pills that are uppers too.
speed in the us i think is usually reffered to meth, in the UK its amphetimine, which isnt quite as bad as meth. Although they are similar.
To me, speed is amphetamine and methamphetamine. I agree, you can sure as hell feel that it's neurotoxic, especially when you're coming off it. I get like mentally impaired, a bit slow, and highly unmotivated (obvious with any stimulant comedown). But I love amphetamine. It does me a lot of good (both in life and just for fun). Seeing what meth does to people had scared me though. I could see how it would get to that point as I have a lot of experience with amphetamine, and methamphetamine is supposed to be a couple times stronger. In the wrong hands, (meth)amphetamine is a fucking dangerous drug.
its fun and alright if used in moderation, but a lot of people here will tell you to stay away from it. I used to dab in a lot of speed and meth a year ago, but ive stopped now.
Speed is natures way of telling you that ya just cannot get something for nothing. Makes ya feel very good and very strong and very powerful for a length of time but as it wears off you pay dearly for those feelings as they are replaced with periods of depression and lethargy and edgy bitchiness as you long to sleep but cannot without more chemical help. Oh and if it's crack you crave remember that it basically dissolved my ex girlfriends front teeth along with her house and career. That first $20 rock became a $200,000 disaster. But the STD's she picked up along the way like Herpes and HPV will always be with her. Thank goodness I got out early. Have always been for legalization of drugs but you have to be careful.
very interesting. i actually really like it. i can see energy spilling all over and fractals in everything.
