why is it such a taboo for people to consume peoples milk? yet we drink cow milk nearly daily and its from a completely different species. my friend sent me this article which made me start thinking about it. Ben & Jerry's asked to use breast milk - UPI.com
i dont know, i always thought this was really stupid. milk is what ALL mammals require as babies. thats what milk is for - to raise young. cow's milk is made for calves. goat's milk is made for kids. human milk is made for babies. there is no need for adults to ever consume any dairy at all. its not unhealthy to do so, but why is it we insist on drinking another animal's milk? seems stupid to me. and why only CERTAIN other animals, too? you see cow milk and goat milk all over.... but nobody drinks dog milk. or dolphin milk. or rabbit milk.....
theres plenty of reasons to drink cow milk the argument of cows milk is for calves falls apart as soon you bring up that we eat cow meat
i can't see how. humans are "designed" to be capable of eating meat, and its natural. i'm not saying people shouldn't consume cow's milk, or that its unhealthy (fuck, i love my cheese. and butter!) i AM saying it's primary purpose is the nourishment of calves, not human beings. we just decide to drink it and make it into food, which is fine, but makes less sense to me than using human milk to nourish humans.
cows milk is plenty nourishing for humans, just as its meat is. it is the bedrock for growth of the muscles we eat of the cow
Who are the women that are going to be selling their milk to this dude with the resturant... i mean how much extra milk can a female produce...
its hard to discuss my views on this without sounding like a creationist..... but i will say that just as cow's milk is the bedrock for growth of cows, so is human's milk the bedrock of growth in humans... cow's milk is "intended" for cows. human's milk is "intended" for humans. i'm not saying we shouldnt consume bovine dairy products. only that it will never be a match to the nurturing value for humans in human milk. i'm not saying cow's milk is bad for us, or even not good for us. we simply don't NEED to drink any milk at all beyond infancy. and in that time when we DO need milk, human milk will always be the most nourishing choice. i'm not at all opposed to dairy in any way except that i feel bad for the squalid conditions in which many of the cows are kept. even still, it seems wierd to me that we choose cows milk over human milk, even for our children.
you're making an argument based on what parts of the cow that are intended for consumption, and for how far along in our development that milk is intended for. and that makes absolutely no sense to me if breast milk from humans was widely available and just as cheap as cow milk, then i would drink it. but its not. and cows milk is a fine substitution for any aged person. and its cheap for the nutrients it gives the people who consume it.
I'm drinking Vanilla Soymilk right now. I do consume cow's milk. I dont drink it, because eww, but I eat dairies and sometimes use it in my cereal.
