Is there some form of consciousness beyond this waking reality?

Everything is infinite. Life does not end at death. The physical body is merely a temporary vehicle, and the physical world is a mere illusion.

If you've been good you are allowed to fart the most miasmic farts ever created into the faces all those who have wronged you, who will die an impossibly slow and torturous death!

If you've been bad you get birched heavily and have a bit of giggle fit over the idea that you are to be noxiously farted-in-the-face to death!

Sometimes, I think eternal life, from my days as a former Christian...and sometimes, I think...just a vast nothingness.

But since energy can't be created or destroyed, wouldn't that mean we would live on ...somewhere...somehow? In some form?

Whatever doesn't change will live on. Presence maybe. Also, the way you affected other people and the world.

I don't believe consciousness persists beyond this waking reality. I am of the mindset that consciousness is an emergent phenomena of matter, particularly 'gray matter' or the brain aligned in a particular way.

Id like to believe thats the case gb.. seeing 20 origanized orbs a few days ago over a field, may have nothing to do with our consciousness.

accounts of dmt elves and what not without having prior knowledge of those elves. something is working beyond our few years of existence on this planet. observing we are . all having a life experience but why?

why am I getting buzzed on booze, smoking a doobie, listening to music and communicating on this machine for?/

Beyond death there is...death, death, and more death.

You mean we keep dying over and over again? That would be weird.

Consciousness is inherently inseparable from that phenomena, there needs to be some observer aware of those things to having known the experience of them.

I don't think consciousness is relegated to our 'homeostatic' processing, or put another way, the mundane conscious experience that we typically have when going through the day to day. Whether DMT elves actually exist or not is not really core to this topic, but to address that, for those that might suggest the elves are some archetypal reflection of the psyche, the first concept that comes to mind is the Jungian idea of a Collective Unconscious, this idea is necessarily in relation to Consciousness. If we assume the DMT elves actually have autonomous existence, then unless you maintain a position of philosophical idealism, one would likely have to conclude something along the lines that our biological limitations prevent us from interacting with them outside a DMT trip, which is then a moot point if we're dead.

Its more like a production stage/phase. Maybe some big corporation can industrialize it? :p

But do you think we will be conscious of ourselves after death?

No, because "ourselves" do not exist.
