    http://www.anwr.org/gallery/pages/06-Central Alaska.htm

check out that map. a few towns, separated by vast, nameless areas. there are blank spaces larger than european countries. what the hell is up there, anyway? mountains, snow, eskimo, taiga, siberian'esque nothingness? i wanna go! i wonder how easy it isto hitchhike around there.

also, what do you think of drilling in ANWR? the area that they say will be affected by the drilling is so tiny compared to the reserve itself. and they say that 75% of alaskans support the drilling. my only qualms with it is that this is only a short term solution to the energy crisis. and if you allow one drilling area, it will be a whole lot easier to pass legislation allowing drilling in other areas as well.

The ecosystem in Alaska is soooooooo sensitive that if one species is affected they will ALL be affected. Why take a chance when it's not even PROVEN that there is even any oil up there???

Oil spills happen several times a day...you just never hear about them because they aren't large spills. An environmental studies professor of mine worked in Louisiana...and whenever she'd have meetings with oil clean up crews, she never was able to finish a meeting with them because they'd get beeped to go to clean up a site. So to say that it WOULDN'T affect the ecosystem up there is a complete lie.

Not only THAT, but that oil we get from there won't come to the United States. Why would it? They can charge more for it in Europe...it won't make our prices go down any.

So yeah...go drill there...ruin the ecosystem and the pristine wilderness Alaska still provides us. See where it gets us...my money is on nowhere.

I, myself, am prepared to depart for ANWR if they do decide to drill. As silly as it sounds, I'm prepared to die for it.

Why do we feel like we have to ruin every natural area by trying to get as much as we can out every piece of land out there....humans are so greedy...

    *steps off soap box*

so, ummmm, if ya don't drill, how the fuck are you gonna run your car tomorrow? and don't say alternative fuel sources cuz we all know that the oil industry isn't gonna allow that any time soon.

she probably did. Some people shouldn't be allowed to live life on their own because they are so fuckin dense sometimes.
