if the president of the united states asked you to explain why you smoke bud on 420, what would you tell him.......

what would you say if he asked what 420 is about.....

and/or what would you say if he asked why it should be legalised........

your at a press confrence between "NORML" and THE WHITE HOUSE and every member of congress is watching......waiting, with their YES/NO buttons at hand

(and pretend its not bush as president)

Honestly 420 is meaningless, it's almost like what St. Patrick's day is to alcohol, it's just an excuse to smoke/drink alot more then normal.

its an excuse because everyone's lives are too shitty. I.e. they need something to break the bleakness of work>eat>sleep so they make up 4/20. Now its just something for stoners to enjoy much like food connesoiers(SP) and all the other specialities.

4/20 is the first day of the stoner new year. I don't follow the gregorian calendar, i follow the stoner calendar.

yes.. this is true.. and i came to that conclusion a couple years ago... but you can't deny the fact that its probably the largest non-denominational national/international underground holiday that is known by stoners and non-smokers alike.. and there aint shit the government can do about the fact that as a collective we've made a day where all marijuana users come together as one

I wouldn't go that far. 4/20 is very much an American thing. In Europe it's mostly scoffed at as being another holiday that means nothing other than stoner's thinking they have a reason to smoke even more than they do.

A number that comes after 419 and before 421. Outside of the US 420 is meaningless, no-one smokes up specifically at that time or on that date. Besides if we were to write it as a date it would be like 20/4/2007 so errrrr...

Have fun anyway you crazy kids, I'm just about to go for a barbecue with some mates and am armed with a nice stick of parvati cream and a decent bottle of merlot (and a nice vegan couscous), so I spose that's my 420 celebrations!

traditions and rituals help give cultures cohesiveness.
because everybody partakes in the ritual on the observed day, we all have a point of contact, a way of reaching across time and space to connect to something larger.

or it's just a great excuse to start smoking pot at four in the morning :)

To me, 4/20 is there because it just is. No one really knows what created it, or why it is celebrated on that particular day. It just is. And I think that is fitting for a day of smoking weed, cause you don't have anything to think about but "Hey, let's smoke more weed today."
