went back a few steps and applied for a lower level job like working in a group home for sed kids or working as a p/t social worker? I mean god I am just so sick of the bullshit and drama and want a position where I am out of it and not in an office. I hate being in an office hate hate hate it. I wish I were a guy I would be a freaking awesome electrician or landscaper. Is it wrong to admit defeat and that you can't handle the situation you've choosen? Would I regret it big time? I know this sounds trivial but I have never wanted to quit a job within the first few weeks since i was a teenager. My boss is a nutcase
you should try being a fashion assistant to someone. Personal dresser or some shit. You get to go shopping with them and they pay you one sweet ass job if you can work it
i dunno, "going back a few steps" could be good. you should do what you really want to do, and from what i know of you, i really think you're better working with people instead of being in an office. i really believe that and i told you that before. i never saw you as a person who worked at a desk all day and did desk work for a career. you do an awesome job with kids. and it isn't defeat. don't think of "going back a few steps" as defeat. actually, it might be considered going forward if you look at it a different way. you're figuring out whats best for you, thats not defeat. you're confronting it, and in no way is that defeat. i'm not sayaing you should quit, but you should do a job that you'll love doing and i know you LOVE working with kids...
exactly what i was going to say.I went out with a girl who was a game park-keeper in South Africa - thats like 80,000 hectares of tigers n bushfelt. ( we only have killer squirrels in uk )
thanks so much I just can't sit down most of the day or be inside or have down time. It drives me nuts I need to be active and doing something and seeing immediatte results. Some people just aren't coorperate material and I think I am one of those people.
Best not to condemn the entire barrel because of one bad apple? It's not unusual to seek a way out of an intolerable situation. Perhaps the nutcase himself is on the way out... as in 'adios/ don't let the door hit ya on your way out'? Defeat/Regret? Prolly not Good to run yet because of a number of issues. Considered giving the situation more Time to sort itself out? Chances are you'll be Stronger in the Long Run by staying put for the Time being. You can always go 'back the few steps' once the situation proves itself terminal. Just remember it's usually much more difficult to regain/advance your present postion after going 'back the few steps'...
nice alias d: because I'm a girl I've never seen a girl do either of those things. It's just so different here. Have you ever been here? If not you would not understand.
life is far too short to be unhappy with your job. If you want to be an electrician ... go for it! If you want to work in a group home, make it happen. Your life is what you make it. And if you try something and it doesn't work, try something else. You have your whole life ahead of you...
very good advice... He just got this promotion before he hired me so I doubt it. He's really good with budgets and for a non profit that is the lowest budgeted project in the state with this company that's really important. we are all grant funded not a branch like other ones around the country. I just never had luck with this comapny worked for them a few years back and almost got fired because of a nutcase boss...I'm going to go eat dinner I've been to stressed to eat since before I went into work I think that's why I'm so worked up right now.
my friend, i want you to think really hard about what you said "admitting defeat" your not admitting defeat, your concouring it by stepping up and doing what you want, wheather thats getting a new job or keeping the one you want
Women can do that too. No ones putting a restrection on what you can or can't do. But if you don;t like the job your at its not defeat it just not for you.
erghhh no those women are snots. I loved working in men's shopping though. If I would back it would be as a buyers assistant or something behind the scenes.
also.... changing jobs can be quite exciting - new people, experiences - i never realised til i worked in a hotel that even though its indoors, its the public that make it interesting - i like listening to peoples stories
