there can be psychological long-lasting effects (not talking about physical damage to your brain)... meaning you can have a trip that will change your life. It can bring on depression, anxiety, or it may even have a positive effect on you. Psychedelics don't change me at all, but I know some people who have had significant life-changing trips.
one of my friends told me he knew a couple people that picked and ate the wrong kind. he had to get like 75% of his intestines removed, because it ate away or destroyed about everything it came in contact with. and he has to take a shit like every few hours. sounds fun
If you're not sure what you're eating then don't eat it! There are alot of toxic mushrooms out there that will kill you dead. Find someone that's experienced with mushrooms or at least a good mushroom field guide ($20 book has most of the fuguses of the world in it including the trippy ones).. and when I say someone experienced, I mean someone that has picked a zillion of the things and never had anyone die on them, not the kid next door that goes cow tipping on acid, k?
