What exactly is your vision of the American dream? Mine is to be allowed to live my life with certain protected rights to personal privacy and the right to make my own decisions.

For the last few years I've seen those rights eroded or totally decimated by the far right. Give me back the right to deny personally invasive drug testing and financial disclosure when I apply for a job. Give me back the right to make telephone calls and use the internet without being tracked. Take out the cameras at stop signs and store entrances. I don't want my grocery purchases tracked. To me that sort of infringement is more an attack on my personal liberty than what the financial houses are facing today.

Some of you whine because perhaps government may provide aid and shelter for the poor or elderly. I see that as their role in providing for a stable society.

You see erosion of personal privacy as providing for national security. What it's lead to is the selling of our personal habits to marketing firms.

And where was the outrage against socialism when California passed Prop 8? When governments can interfere with our lifes to the point they define what a personal contract between two people can be that is real socialism.

Why is protecting wealth more important than protecting the rights of the individual.
