Looking for a fun (but not over the top) color to paint the kitchen. I'm sick of white. I have the upper half to work with. Any ideas? Attached a pic

How about red? It is what it is in the most recent rental I am in. Everything else is awful, but the cabinets are cheerful.

Yellow also sounds great! I have no kitchen windows so the bright red sure helps.

When I lived in Amsterdam those ten years the landlady agreed to update the kitchen...if I bought new appliances. So I did, then I made sure the color was to my liking...Royal Dutch Blue. It was AWESOME! When I moved out the landlady bought the appliances from me, so all was happy.

Keeping the walls white below the dado, almost any colour above will make the room look smaller and top heavy.
My immediate feeling was to leave the top half alone and paint the timber cladding below the dado.
Forest green or an ocher red spring to mind, Another alternative would be to restore the wood to it's natural colour. However stripping TVG timber is a very time consuming job.

Needless to say, you will need a new tablecloth. :yum::yum::yum::yum::yum::yum:

Whatever you decide, paint 2 strips of lining paper first and blue-tack them on the wall to see what the end result will look like before you put any paint on the walls.

The cabinet doors look lovely and the subdued red contrasts well with the stainless theme, but that colour would look very overpowering on the walls. :yum:

It's a kitchen... Blue light will make your food look weird.

Have you thought of Royal Dutch Blue? I had a kitchen in Holland, and I painted it that color with white cabinets and Oak trim on the doors and windows. It was nice. Wish I had a picture :)

  19. I think it looks good now...
